How do I check if my router is VPN enabled?
Ugh, checking if my router has VPN enabled is such a pain. I have to log into that clunky web interface, find the Configuration tab (why is it never obvious?), then dig through Security to hopefully find VPN Passthrough. It should be enabled by default, but who knows with my router. Its always a relief when those little IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP boxes are actually checked. Sometimes I feel like technology is just testing my patience.
Is my router actually using the VPN? Ugh, what a headache! You wouldn’t believe how many times I’ve wrestled with this. First, you have to log into that ancient web interface thing…you know, the one that looks like it’s from 1999? Then, the hunt begins. Where is that darn “Configuration” tab?! Seriously, why is it never where you expect it? And then, once you finally find it (usually buried under something completely unrelated), you have to dig through the “Security” settings, hoping against hope to find that magical “VPN Passthrough” option. It should be enabled already, right? You’d think. But my router…oh, my router has a mind of its own. One time, I swear, it just randomly decided to disable it. Just to mess with me, probably.
It’s such a relief when I finally find those little checkboxes for IPSec, PPTP, and L2TP – and they’re actually checked. Like, YES! Small victories, you know? But seriously, sometimes I feel like technology is just designed to test my limits. Remember when setting up a VCR was considered a complex task? Now we have these mini-supercomputers we call routers, and figuring them out is like trying to decipher ancient hieroglyphics. It’s exhausting. Anyway, that’s my rant. Hopefully, yours is enabled and you don’t have to go through all that. Fingers crossed!
