How do I get my items back from airport security?
To recover items lost at airport security, contact the airports lost and found department directly. For items lost elsewhere in the airport (gates, restaurants, etc.), contact the airport authority or relevant business where you believe the item was misplaced.
Ugh, that sinking feeling of realizing you left something at security! Been there. Once, I left my favorite Star Wars water bottle – the one with Chewbacca on it. Devastating. Anyway, getting your stuff back can be a little tricky, but it’s definitely worth a shot.
First things first, you’ve gotta call the airport’s lost and found. They’re the ones who usually handle stuff left at the security checkpoints. Seriously, just Google “[Airport Name] lost and found” – you’ll find it. Describe what you lost – the more details the better. Like, don’t just say “a water bottle.” Say “a blue Star Wars water bottle with Chewbacca on it, probably near lane 4 around 9 am.” You know? Be specific! What if someone else lost a plain blue water bottle? They gotta know it’s yours.
Now, if you didn’t lose it at security, but like, at a restaurant or near your gate, that’s a different story. Then you need to contact the airport authority themselves, or, even better, the specific place where you think you left it. Like, if you left your phone charging at that overpriced airport Panda Express, call them! (Don’t judge me, airport food is a weakness.) Honestly, it’s kind of a pain, I know, but hopefully, someone turned it in. Fingers crossed! Don’t give up hope right away! It’s happened to the best of us. Right?
