How do I know if my ESTA was approved?

Okay, so you've applied for your ESTA, right? And now you're all like, "Did it go through? Am I good to go?" I totally get it. That waiting game can be a nail-biter.

You should usually hear back right away – like, boom, approved! (Fingers crossed, right?) But, sometimes… sometimes it takes a bit longer. They say up to 72 hours. 72 hours?! It can feel like an eternity, am I right? I remember applying for mine before a trip to New York. I was so anxious, constantly checking my email. I think I even dreamt about it!

Anyway, if you don't get an immediate answer, don't freak out! (Easier said than done, I know.)
