How do I reset hosting?
To reset hosting:
- Backup all data.
- Remove add-ons/subdomains, files, email & FTP accounts.
- Delete databases/users.
This reverts your hosting account to its default state. Note: Your email accounts may not be affected.
Okay, so you’re looking at a complete hosting reset. Deep breath, this is kind of a big deal, right? Like hitting the giant reset button on a video game. You’re going back to square one.
Before you even think about doing this, BACK. UP. EVERYTHING. Seriously. Everything. Photos, databases, files, the whole shebang. Imagine losing that project you’ve been working on for weeks? No thanks! I remember that one time I almost lost a whole website because I skipped backing up. Never again. Use an FTP client, a backup plugin, whatever you need. Just make sure you have a copy somewhere safe.
Next, you’ll want to strip everything down. Think of it like spring cleaning, but for your server. Get rid of all those extra add-ons you installed but don’t really use. (You know you have them!) Bye-bye subdomains. Remove all your files. Delete your email accounts (though sometimes, weirdly, these stick around – go figure!). And don’t forget those FTP accounts. Clean slate, people.
Then, the databases. And the users. Gone. Poof. This is where it gets real, you know? It’s like… deleting a character in a game. A little bit sad, but sometimes necessary.
Doing all this basically wipes the slate clean. Your hosting account will be like it was when you first got it – brand spanking new. Just a heads up though, sometimes, and I don’t know why, your email accounts might survive this whole process. It’s like they have a mind of their own. So, just double-check everything afterwards.
So, yeah, that’s basically it. It’s a pretty drastic move, but sometimes you just gotta start over. Good luck!
