How do you keep money from getting mold in a safe?

Moldy money?! Seriously, that's the stuff of nightmares, right? I can practically smell the musty mildew just thinking about it. Ugh. So, how do you prevent that cash catastrophe in your safe?

Personally, I'd go straight for a small dehumidifier. They make them specifically for safes, and honestly, it's just such a small price to pay for peace of mind. Think about it – all that hard-earned cash… or maybe sentimental items, important documents… you don’t want any of that stuff getting ruined!

I mean, yeah, sure, those little desiccant packets – the silica gel things you find in shoe boxes – they could work in a pinch. But… I don't know. They get saturated pretty quickly, don't they? Then you gotta keep swapping them out. Who needs that hassle? And how do you even know when they're full? Just seems like asking for trouble.

A dehumidifier, on the other hand? Just plug it in (if it's the electric kind) or put it in there (if it's the rechargeable kind) and you're pretty much set. Consistent, reliable protection. Remember that time my aunt stored some old family photos in a damp basement? Total disaster. Wish she'd had a dehumidifier then. Live and learn, I guess. Anyway, for something as important as the things you keep in a safe, a dehumidifier is totally worth it. No question.
