How do you travel in Ho Chi Minh City?

Ho Chi Minh City transport options are plentiful. Taxis are readily available, or use ride-hailing apps like Grab if you have a local SIM. Public buses cover much of the city. For unique experiences, consider a boat trip to the Củ Chi Tunnels or Mekong Delta.

Best ways to get around Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon)?

Okay, so getting around Saigon, right? Honestly, it's a bit of a free-for-all, but a fun one.

Taxis are EVERYWHERE. Legit, you can't swing a cat without hitting one (don't actually swing a cat, though).

But! If you got a Vietnamese SIM (get one, seriously), GRAB is your new best buddy. It's like Uber, but everywhere. Way easier than haggling with taxi drivers. I paid like, 40,000 VND (around $2 CAD) for a decent ride from District 1 to my aunt's in Go Vap District. Bargain!

Buses...exist. I mean, they go all over. But navigating them? Hoo boy. My Vietnamese skills are not up to that challenge, lets just say.

You can even get a boat thing going on the river, if you want a Cu Chi Tunnels day trip or Mekong Delta adventure. I've been to Cu Chi. It's… interesting. claustrophobic. Worth it, tho.
