Da Nang to Hoi An: Transportation Costs?
Okay, so getting from Da Nang to Hoi An… hmm.
Taxis or Grab are your easiest bet. I did it back in August (can’t remember the exact date, whoops!). Cost was hefty tho.
One-way: 350,000 – 430,000 VND. Round trip: 750,000 – 950,000 VND.
Yeah, those taxi fairs definitely made my wallet cry a little. Worth it for the convenience though! I remeber trying to haggle a bit, but didn’t get very far lol.
Honestly, sharing a ride might be the way to go if you’re on a budget. I saw some tourist doing that, wish i’d thought of it.
I personally booked a Grab car, paid 400,000 VND (around $17 USD) for a ride, took 45 minutes. I even think the driver try to over charge me a bit, but I was too tire to bother.

Okay, so I grabbed a ride from Da Nang to Hoi An in freakin’ August 2024. HOT, I tell ya! Ugh.
Grab cost me around 300k VND. Like, $13-ish, maybe a bit more. Yeah, worth it.
The driver blasted Vietnamese pop the whole way. My ears… but who cares? Hoi An!
Took maybe 40 mins, give or take. Seemed longer, the heat.
I think it was more expensive cos it was peak season. Tourists everywhere.
- Distance: Roughly 30 km
- Travel Time: 30-45 mins is right.
- Best way to get there: Grab is easy.
- I love Hoi An!!!
- Da Nang is okay too.

So, Da Nang to Hoi An? It’s like, thirty klicks, right? Took me forty-five minutes last year, maybe longer, that traffic’s nuts sometimes. Grab cost me, I think, around 300,000 dong. That’s, like, twelve bucks, thirteen maybe? Could be more expensive, definetly more in peak season, you know, like crazy expensive.
- Distance: 30 kilometers
- Travel time: 30-45 minutes (depending on traffic – avoid rush hour!)
- Grab cost (2024): ~300,000 VND (~$12-13 USD) But it fluctuates! Sometimes more, especially summer.
Seriously, use Grab; it’s easy peasy. My friend got totally ripped off by a taxi last month. Don’t be a fool like him. Remember that! Avoid taxis unless you absolutely need to. They can be expensive and unreliable. And the drivers, sometimes… ugh. Just use Grab. Way better, way safer, easier to pay too. You’ll thank me later. It was a totally smooth experience for me. I highly recomend it.
