How much should I tip my grocery delivery driver?

Ugh, tipping is always such a minefield, isn’t it? How much should you tip your grocery delivery person? That’s what I’ve been wrestling with lately. I mean, it’s not like a pizza, right? They’re not just dropping something off; they’re actually shopping for your stuff – which, let me tell you, is way more work. Last week, I ordered from that new organic place, and honestly, I felt kinda bad because my order was all over the place – weird requests, substitutions… The poor guy probably spent ages trying to find everything.

So, I usually aim for 15-20%, maybe more if it’s a really big order or crazy difficult, like that time I ordered 12 different kinds of exotic mushrooms. I kid you not! They were probably hiding in some back corner. But yeah, 10-20% of the total is a good rule of thumb I’ve heard. It’s more than a restaurant delivery, because they’re doing a lot more than just driving, it’s like, actual shopping, right? Plus, they’re dealing with all the grocery store craziness too – which is a whole other level of stress.

And sometimes I think, should I base it on how nice they were? You know, if they texted me updates or carefully picked out the best avocados. That stuff matters, and those small thoughtful things deserve a little extra, if you ask me. I just really feel like I should reward good service, especially since they’re doing all that running around for me. So yeah, aim for that 10-20%, but don’t be afraid to bump it up a little if they go above and beyond. It feels good, you know?
