How strict are baggage size limits?

Ugh, baggage size limits, right? Such a pain! It's like they're always trying to catch you out. So, yeah, for checked bags, those airlines are STICKLERS. That 62-inch thing? Pretty much universal. Length, width, height – add 'em up. I usually try to stick around 27x21x14 inches – seems to be the sweet spot. But, you know, sometimes you need that extra pair of shoes… so you kinda push it. I remember once, coming back from Italy, I had this amazing leather jacket I just had to bring home. My bag was bulging! I swear, I was sweating bullets at check-in, convinced they were gonna make me pay a fortune. Luckily, I got away with it that time. But, seriously, who hasn't been there?! Is it really worth the risk? Sometimes, yes. Absolutely. Especially when it's that one perfect souvenir, you know? But then other times, you're just kicking yourself because that extra $50 could have been a nice dinner out. It's a gamble, isn't it? Annoying, but what can you do? You gotta bring your stuff!
