How to choose a rider on Uber?

Okay, so you’re wondering how to choose a rider on Uber? Like, pick and choose who you want in your car? Honestly, I thought the same thing when I first started driving! Turns out, it doesn’t work that way. It’s not like picking and choosing produce at the grocery store. Wish it was sometimes, you know? Especially after that one ride where the guy ate a whole messy burger in the backseat… shudders.

You can’t actually choose a rider. Nope. Drivers don’t get to do that. The riders request a ride, and then Uber pings the closest available driver – which might be you! The system’s kinda automated like that. It just connects the dots, passenger to driver, boom. Think of it like a dating app, except without the awkward small talk… well, sometimes there’s awkward small talk, but you get the idea.

You can set some preferences though. Like, I only do UberX, I’m not about that fancy Uber Black life. And recently I started playing with destination filtering, which is a lifesaver. Let’s me head in the direction I want to go anyway, so even if the ride isn’t super long, it’s taking me where I’m headed. So, there is some control. But picking a specific person? Like, “Ooh, I want to drive her based on her profile picture”? Nah. Not gonna happen. It’s just not how the app works. Trust me, I’ve tried to figure it out! Wouldn’t it be nice sometimes, though?
