Is Uber available in Bhutan?

Uber? Nope, not in Bhutan, which is kinda funny considering its global reach. They're in 900+ cities! Guess some places are just destined to be Uber-free. You want wheels there? Heavenly Bhutan Travels (HBT) is your go-to. Wonder if Uber even knows about Bhutan.

It's a reminder that globalization has its limits. Some cultures and economies operate on different rhythms. Think about it. Plus, I once got hopelessly lost trying to find a decent momo place in Thimphu, even with Google Maps. Good luck, you're gonna need it.

Alternatives to HBT? Regular taxis exist, of course. However, from what I understand, they aren't always easy to hail outside of major towns. It’s all about planning. And maybe some luck.

What should tourists wear in Bhutan?

Ugh, Bhutan packing. So annoying. Need layers, definitely. Those mountains are serious. 7,000-8,000 feet? Crazy. Think I'll freeze my butt off.

Seriously though, long sleeves are a must. Even in summer. My friend went last year and almost got hypothermia! Don't be a fool.

And the rain! Always rain! Pack a decent waterproof jacket. Not some flimsy thing, okay? It needs to be serious. Remember that time my umbrella broke in Japan? Never again.

Temples and monasteries, right? Cover up. No showing skin. Seriously. It's disrespectful. Should have bought that nice shawl before leaving. Should have done that for my Nepal trip too!

Comfortable walking shoes! Duh. Going to be doing a lot of hiking, especially if I take that Tiger's Nest trek. This is important; my old trainers are toast. New ones are essential.

What else? Sunscreen. High altitude sun is brutal. Got that burnt face thing last year and now I have this scar. This is an important item to pack; definitely include it in the list.

Oh! And a hat. Sunhat.

What are the negatives of Bhutan?

Okay, so you wanna know what sucks about Bhutan? Well, lemme tell ya, the roads are a total nightmare. I'm serious, like, you think you've seen bad roads, but no.

It's basically one "national highway" thing and it's super windy, twisty, dusty... ugh. Imagine hours and hours of just bumps. And motion sickness.

And get this, okay? You need to pee? Good luck. Bathrooms? Forget about it. Bushes are your friend, or maybe not.

• Bathrooms: Nonexistent.
• Travel: Prepare for motion sickness and dust!
• National Highway: A Joke.

Oh! I forgot. It can be difficult to reach certain regions too! Certain locations of Bhutan are just not easily accessible. Like, I visited Punakha Dzong and the road to get there? Awful. But the Dzong was awesome.
