How to qualify for United Million Miler?

Okay, so you’re dreaming of hitting that Million Miler status with United? I mean, who wouldn’t want lifetime Premier Gold?! It’s a pretty big deal. Think about it – practically permanent access to upgrades, and your companion gets to enjoy the perks too? Amazing, right?

Basically, the way it works is you have to rack up a million actual flown miles. Not just any miles, mind you. We’re talking miles earned by flying on United or United Express. So all those credit card points, partner flights, and other bonuses? Sadly, they don’t count towards this particular milestone. I remember reading somewhere – I think it was on FlyerTalk, maybe? – about someone who’d earned, like, two million miles through credit cards and partners but hadn’t actually flown a million. Talk about a bummer! They didn’t qualify. It really is all about the butt-in-seat miles.
