How to recover from long distance driving?
Ugh, long drives completely wreck me! My back aches, my legs are stiff, and I just feel blah. After I finally crawl out of the car, the last thing I want to do is sit down again. I force myself to take a walk, even if its just a short one, and do some stretches. Guzzling water and rubbing my neck and shoulders helps too. It makes a world of difference in how I feel afterward, honestly, otherwise Im a grumpy mess.
Long drives? Ugh, don’t even get me started! Seriously, I feel like a crumpled-up napkin after a few hours in the car. My back is screaming, my legs are all cramped and twitchy, and I’m just… blah. You know that feeling? Like you’ve been folded in half and shoved in a suitcase? Yeah, that’s me.
Once I finally manage to unfold myself and crawl out, the absolute LAST thing I want to do is sit. Ironically, right? But seriously, I have to force myself to move. Even if it’s just a quick hobble around the parking lot or a pathetic excuse for a stretch. Remember that time we drove to Aunt Carol’s? I practically had to roll out of the car! I felt like a hundred years old.
Anyway, what I’ve found that really helps is water. Like, guzzling it down. And I mean a lot, not just a few sips. That, combined with some serious neck and shoulder rubs (sometimes I even rope my husband into it!), honestly makes a world of difference. Otherwise, I’m a total bear. Like, legitimately a grumpy, snapping, don’t-even-look-at-me kind of mess. So yeah, a little movement, lots of water, and a good rubdown. It’s my post-road trip survival kit.
