How to tell if someone blocked you or if there phone is off?

Okay, so you wanna know how to figure out if you've been blocked or if someone's just, you know, off the grid for a bit? Ugh, I totally get that frustration! It's the WORST, right?

That single ring... that single ring before the voicemail kicks in? It's like the sound of impending doom! Is it me? Are they mad? Did I say something stupid? Or is their phone just dead? Like, seriously dead? You just spiral, don't you?

I swear, it's the cruelest guessing game ever! A low battery and a "you shall not pass" block on my number feel practically identical. I remember this one time, I kept calling my friend Sarah because we were supposed to meet, and it went straight to voicemail every time. I was convinced she was furious with me because I’d been late to her birthday dinner. I was freaking out, sending apologetic texts that were probably making things worse! Turns out, her phone had died, and she'd been out all day with no charger! I felt so silly and relieved.
