Da Nang to Hoi An: Best ways to travel and explore?

Okay, so Da Nang to Hoi An, right? I did this trip last summer, July 2023 to be exact. Totally worth it.

From Da Nang train station, a taxi’s easiest; it cost me around 300,000 VND. A bit pricey, but convenient.

The Yellow Bus is cheaper, maybe 50,000 VND or less. But the schedule’s tight; 5:30 am to 6 pm only. Less flexible for a spontaneous traveler like me.

The distance? About 30 kilometers, I think. It’s a short journey, really. Took around an hour in the cab, not including traffic. The bus probably longer.

I’d recommend a taxi if you’re in a rush, or the bus if you’re on a tighter budget and not fussed about time. It all depends on your priorities.

How do I get to Da Nang to Hoi An?

To journey from Da Nang’s train station to Hoi An, one has several options. Taxis offer direct transport, but can be pricier.

The Yellow Bus is a reliable choice. It operates from 5:30 AM to 6 PM. This is generally a good balance. The bus life, though, is often revealing.

A local bus is most economical. It might pose challenges if one is burdened with significant luggage. Just be ready for close encounters.

  • Taxi: Direct, convenient, costs more.
  • Yellow Bus: Regular schedule.
  • Local Bus: Affordable. Limited luggage space.

It’s rather intriguing how seemingly simple choices, like transportation, are actually rich in nuances. Reminds me of that time I tried making banh mi. Never again.

How long does it take from Da Nang to Hoi An?

Da Nang to Hoi An? Think 30-ish minutes. Unless you’re me. Then it’s an hour, minimum. Distracted by banh mi stands, you see. Like a moth to a flame, only more delicious. 27.4 km officially. Lies. It’s longer in stomach growls. ĐT607, the scenic route they claim. More like the “where did all the motorbikes come from?” route.

  • 30-45 minutes: Average Joe travel time.
  • 1 Hour+: Foodie travel time (My kind of time).
  • 27.4 km: The official distance. As if.
  • ĐT607: The road of a thousand (or more) motorbikes.

Took my scooter last July. Got lost. Ended up at An Bang Beach. Best. Detour. Ever. Still made it to Hoi An before sunset. Priorities. Pack snacks. Hydrate. And don’t trust Google Maps entirely. It doesn’t know about the irresistible allure of a roadside che stand. Speaking from experience, of course. My detour involved three different kinds of che. Don’t judge.

How many kilometers from Da Nang airport to Hoi An?

Twenty-seven point seven kilometers. A short trip.

  • Distance: 27.7 km.
  • Travel time (approximate): 42 minutes via ĐT607. Traffic varies.

My last trip, I took a Grab. Cost: Around 150,000 VND. Negotiate. Always negotiate. Life’s a negotiation.

Note: These figures are based on 2024 data. Route selection impacts travel time. Road conditions matter. Expect delays.

Fuel prices fluctuate. Be prepared. Check your vehicle.

Consider the weather. Rain adds time.

My watch says it’s 11:30 AM. Irrelevant.

What is the best way to get from Da Nang to Hoi An?

Dark outside. Thinking about Da Nang… Hoi An. The bus. Cheap, yeah. Remember that rattling ride. Dust motes in the afternoon sun. Takes maybe an hour. Hot.

Sticky seats. Crowded. Kids yelling. Not…peaceful. But… real.

  • Taxi: Faster. Air conditioning. Remember the driver. Chain smoker. Talked about his family. Cost more, though. Worth it, sometimes. Maybe forty minutes. Traffic’s a thing now.
  • Grab: Like a taxi. Phone app. Easy. Little cheaper, I think.
  • Private car: If you’re fancy. Or with a group.
  • Motorbike: Rent one. Freedom. Wind. Dangerous. Saw a crash once. Near the market. Bad. Still… that feeling of the open road. Remember the rice paddies. Green. So green. The smell.

Went in 2023. July. Hottest month. Crazy hot. Still. Good memories. Except the bus seats. Never forget those bus seats.
