How to get to Phong Nha, Vietnam: Best travel options?
Getting to Phong Nha? Hmm, let me think… I flew into Dong Hoi Airport (VDH) last July. Cost me a pretty penny, around $300 from Hanoi, if I recall correctly. Then it’s a taxi or bus to Phong Nha town itself. Easy peasy.
The taxi ride? About an hour, maybe a little less. Expensive though, compared to the bus – I think it was around $25. Don’t quote me on that though, my memory’s a bit fuzzy on the exact amount.
Once in Phong Nha, getting around’s a breeze. My hotel had free bikes – brilliant! Scooted all over town on those. Otherwise, motorbikes are everywhere for rent; super cheap. Cars are available too, but less convenient for exploring the smaller paths. You can find options near the entrance to Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, usually.
