Is 10,000 Baht Enough for a 5-Day Trip?

Okay, so 10,000 Baht for 5 days in Thailand? Hmmm...depends heavily on what you plan to do!

I personally blew through wayyy more than 10k back in 2018! It was crazy. Koh Lanta, specifically. I prob spent...like, 20k, maybe more? For 3 days even. Parties, boat trips (expensive!!), nice-ish bungalows.

BUT. If you're chill, eat street food, and just want a mellow vibe? Totally doable. 10,000 baht can stretch pretty far. Think local markets. Think Chang beer at 7-Eleven.

It's all about your travel style. That's what it comes down to.

10,000 THB might cover basic costs for 5 days: local food, cheap transport, budget accommodations. However, partying or tours will increase expenses.

How much cash do I need for 5 days in Bangkok?

Bangkok... five days.

Maybe S$200, perhaps even S$300. It depends.

  • I blow money on useless things. Trinkets. Foods.

  • Transportation is cheap, tuk-tuks tempt me.

  • Accommodation? Varies. Hostels to pricier places.

Food is where I spend. Street food. And beer.

  • Street food: Cheap, oh so cheap!
  • Attractions: Temples, they ask for donations.
  • Massages too. Daily. A little treat?

It adds up. Easily. That S$40 - S$60 a day? Not for me.

  • Me? I'd say S$50 a day, absolute minimum.

I don't know. Maybe I'm just bad with money. Oh well.

How much spending money do you need in Thailand for a week?

Ugh, Thailand trip. Seven days? Okay, so...

  • Budget: 1,061 THB a day. That's, like, peanuts. Seriously, how do people do it? Street food only? Probably. Total: 7,425 THB. That’s about $200 USD at current rates. Too cheap for me.

  • Mid-range: 2943 THB daily. Much better. Think nicer guesthouses, maybe a few cocktails. 808 USD. That feels right.

  • Luxury? 9,068 THB a day? Insane. 2,491 USD total for a week. Who spends that much? For a week?! Seriously.

My last trip to Chiang Mai – I splurged a bit. I loved the night market but I definitely need a better budget this time. Maybe I can manage mid-range… but I need to check flights and accommodation costs first. The baht has been fluctuating. Ugh. Really need to sort this out before I book anything. Where's my spreadsheet? So many things to consider. Visa? Travel insurance? Are my vaccinations up to date? Ugh, this is stressful.

I hate planning. But also... I love Thailand. The food is amazing. Pad Thai! Massaman curry! I'm already hungry. I’ll definitely need more than $200. Maybe I should aim for $600-$800. Better safe than sorry. 2024 needs to be amazing!

How much money for 1 week in Thailand?

70,000 THB for three weeks. Budget wisely.

10 days? 35,000 THB minimum. Don't scrimp.

One week? 25,000 THB. That's realistic. Unless you're backpacking. Then maybe less.

  • Accommodation: Luxury doubles your cost. Hostels? Much cheaper.
  • Food: Street food is king. Fine dining? Expensive. My last trip, I ate street food mostly.
  • Activities: Temples are affordable. Island hopping? Costs add up. Expect 5,000 THB for activities per week.
  • Transportation: Grab is convenient. Negotiate tuk-tuk prices. Don't forget airport transfers.

My 2023 trip: I spent 75,000 baht. Three weeks. Pretty comfortable. Could have done it cheaper, sure, but I enjoy nice things.
