Is 100Mbps good for 5 people?

Is 100Mbps good for 5 people? Ugh, that's a tough one. I mean, technically it might be okay, but... five people? If everyone's just checking email and scrolling through Facebook, sure, maybe. But let's be real, who only does that these days? My family tried squeezing by on something similar a while back (I think it was 100Mbps, maybe a little less?), and it was a nightmare. My teenager would be trying to stream some game on Twitch, my husband would be on video calls for work, and I'd just want to watch, like, one episode of something on Netflix in peace. Forget it. Total buffering city. It was like living in the dark ages of internet! You know, the kind where you click on a link and then go make a sandwich while the page loads? No thanks.

I remember reading somewhere that streaming HD video takes up like 5-10 Mbps each. So, if two or three people are doing that at once… you see where I'm going with this, right? You’re eating up that 100 Mbps pretty fast. Then throw in some online gaming, which can be surprisingly demanding, or downloading large files, and, well, it's just not a good situation. Personally, I wouldn't risk it. I’d bite the bullet and go for a faster connection. These days, with gigabit internet becoming more and more common (and honestly, not that much more expensive in a lot of places), why put yourself through that constant worry and frustration? It’s worth the peace of mind, believe me.
