Ugh, Ninh Binh. Two days felt rushed. Remember that scorching June 2023 trip? Sweating buckets climbing Hang Mua. Worth the view though. Saw the whole valley, crazy rice paddies. Definitely Instagrammable. Should’ve spent longer at Trang An. Boat ride was too short. Hoa Lu, kinda boring. Just old temples. Skip it if short on time. Bai Dinh Pagoda…massive. Overwhelming. Felt kinda lost. Three days would’ve been perfect. Definitely needed a nap after Bai Dinh.

• Hang Mua: Amazing view. Steep climb. June was hot.
• Trang An: Boat ride. Too short. Beautiful scenery.
• Hoa Lu: Ancient capital. Meh.
• Bai Dinh Pagoda: Huge. Got lost. Impressive but tiring.

Three days ideal. Two days doable if skipping Hoa Lu. Trang An needs more time.

Is Ninh Binh worth staying overnight?

Ninh Binh? Definitely worth an overnight stay, perhaps even two. Day trips are common, sure, but you’ll miss the deeper vibe. I personally spent four days there. Gives you a much richer experience, ya know?

Think of it this way:

• Pace matters. A rushed trip is like speed-reading War and Peace. Get it?

• You’ll discover hidden gems. Those tiny, family-run eateries are delightful. You just need the time to find them. I stumbled upon one near Tam Coc. Best spring rolls ever!

• The mornings and evenings are magical. Fewer crowds, better light, it’s just calmer. The sunset over the rice paddies? Unforgettable.

Consider, too, the philosophical implications. Travel isn’t just about ticking off sights. It’s about slowing down, connecting, reflecting. Ninh Binh offers that, but only if you let it.

How many nights should I stay in Ninh Binh?

Okay, Ninh Binh… how many nights? 3 to 4 days, yeah, that sounds right. I mean, it depends, right?

• Tam Coc for sure, that’s like, a must-see.
• And Trang An! Boat trips are a thing.

Hmm, maybe I shoulda stayed longer last year? Nah, I saw enough. Still, 3-4 nights. Perfect.

• Mua Cave! The view!
• And the ancient capital… Hoa Lu. Right?

Yeah, Hoa Lu! Gotta add that. But seriously, that’s a good chunk of time. Any less, and you’re rushing it. But I did it in less time. Wait.

Three days is plenty. Unless… hiking? I hate hiking. But some love it, right? They’d need more time. Four days it is! No, wait.

• Remember that food? Ugh, I need to go back for the food.
• And was it rainy season? Man, Ninh Binh… gorgeous.

Seriously though. 3-4 days. It’s all good.

Is it better to stay in Ninh Binh or Hanoi?

Ugh, Hanoi or Ninh Binh? So, I was in Vietnam last October. Hanoi was… intense. So many scooters, seriously.

I did the Ninh Binh day trip thing from Hanoi, but man, two days is way better. Trust me. I actually felt ripped off, haha!

We stayed at this homestay near Tam Coc. Super chill. “Ha Long Bay on Land” ain’t kidding. The rock formations were insane.

• Location: Tam Coc area, Ninh Binh.
• Time: October 2024.
• Vibe: Relaxed, scenic. Hanoi? Chaotic!

History, you know, the temples, caves… it was all cool. But seriously, the scenery is the reason to go.

Hanoi? Good for pho. Ninh Binh? Good for the soul. Definitely stay overnight.

How long should you stay in Ninh Binh?

Three days in Ninh Binh? That’s my prescription, though I’m no doctor, just a well-traveled soul. Think of it as a perfectly-sized chocolate bar – not too much to induce a sugar coma, not too little to leave you craving more.

Three days is optimal. You’ll cover the main attractions; imagine it as a delicious, whirlwind tour. You’ll see temples clinging to cliffs like determined barnacles, stunning rice paddies that look like an Impressionist painting gone wild, and of course, the ethereal beauty of Van Long. Seriously, the boat ride alone is worth the trip, unless you’re afraid of rocking boats or excessively enthusiastic tour guides.

• Day 1: Conquer ancient temples.
• Day 2: Cycle through the rice paddies, maybe fall in a puddle—it’s all part of the adventure!
• Day 3: Van Long’s serene waters await. Kayak or take a boat, your choice. I highly recommend the boat.

But honestly, my last trip was in 2022. Perhaps a few more hours for those legendary egg coffee shops? This year is different and egg coffee may have evolved. My Instagram feed shows way more trendy cafes. I’m thinking the egg coffee is overrated. Time to investigate. More time might mean a trip to Trang An. It’s gorgeous. Or maybe not. I mean, Ninh Binh is already awesome. The real question is: how much time do you have to waste?
