Is 3 days enough for Vientiane?
Is 3 days enough for Vientiane? Honestly, I think so! Three days in Vientiane gives you a really nice taste of the city. You can hit the main spots, maybe even squeeze in a day trip somewhere cool nearby – I've heard the Buddha Park is amazing, though I haven't been myself yet. Plus, three days is definitely enough time to stuff yourself silly with delicious Lao food! Think sticky rice, papaya salad... oh man, it's good. And you can wander the markets, soak it all in, you know?
Of course, more time is always better, right? Like, if I had a whole week, I’d probably try to go further afield, maybe up north or something. But if you only have a few days in Laos and want to see the capital, three days in Vientiane feels like a pretty sweet spot. It's enough to get a good overview, see the temples (Pha That Luang is a must), and just kind of get a feel for the place. I remember when I was in Southeast Asia, I zipped through some places pretty quickly, and I kind of regretted it. But Vientiane felt… manageable in three days. Didn't feel too rushed, didn't feel like I was missing out on too much. You'll get a good feel for the laid-back vibe there, trust me.
