Is 3 days enough to visit Vietnam?

Three days? Nah, not enough for Vietnam. Seriously. Ho Chi Minh City alone needs more than that, you know? I spent five days there and still felt rushed. Think about it – the War Remnants Museum, the Cu Chi Tunnels…that’s a whole day, easy.

Then there’s the food! Pho, Banh Mi, all the street food… you need time to explore that. And shopping! Ben Thanh Market is insane. So much stuff!

What about the temples? I really wanted to see more pagodas. My friend told me about a beautiful one outside the city, but I ran out of time. It’s a shame. Totally regret that. Should’ve planned better. Next time, definitely more than three days in HCM.

Speaking of next time – I’m planning a trip to Hoi An in 2024. Heard its ancient town is amazing. And the beaches! Will take at least four days there, minimum. Then maybe Ha Long Bay after that. I need to book flights soon.

Key things to consider:

• Travel time between cities: Flights and buses eat up a lot of time.
• Activities: You need time to actually do stuff. Not just rush through everything.
• Relaxation: Travel is exhausting! Plan for downtime.

Honestly, a week for just Ho Chi Minh City and its surroundings would be better. Maybe two weeks for a good taste of the whole country.

Ten to fourteen days minimum. Anything less is a superficial glance.

Vietnam’s vast.

• Northern highlights: Hanoi, Ha Long Bay. Cramped, but doable.
• Central Vietnam: Hue, Hoi An. Forget it in four days.
• South: Ho Chi Minh City, Mekong Delta. Impossible.

Prioritize. Choose one region. My 2023 trip: ten days, northern Vietnam only. Still rushed. More time needed. Seriously.

Three days in Hanoi? Ha. Not nearly enough. It felt rushed, you know?

I wish I’d had more time. The Old Quarter, those winding streets…I could have spent a week just wandering.

The egg coffee was amazing, but three days barely scratched the surface of all the food. I’m still dreaming of banh mi.

Hanoi is addictive. Seriously. I wanted to stay longer. So much to see. So much to eat.

• The Old Quarter: A maze of charm I never tired of.
• Egg coffee: Rich, creamy perfection. Need more.
• Street food: Endless possibilities, I only sampled a fraction.
• Temples and pagodas: Barely saw a handful. I regret that.
• West Lake: Peaceful escape, wished I’d spent more time there. Needed it.

Three days felt like a cruel joke. My flight home was brutal. I felt robbed. Stolen moments. I still miss it. The scent of the city. Everything. I should have booked more time. It haunts me. Seriously.

Four days? Vietnam? Nah, way too short! I went there last spring. Ho Chi Minh City blew my mind. Spent five nights, STILL didn’t see everything.

I landed at Tan Son Nhat Airport feeling so jetlagged. Immediately hit up District 1 for some pho. Oh man, that pho.

The traffic, tho! Motorbikes everywhere. Crossing the street was an actual adventure. LOL. Remember almost getting hit, yikes.

I stayed in this tiny guesthouse near Ben Thanh Market. Super cheap, super noisy. Worth it.

One day I took a trip to the Cu Chi Tunnels. Creepy AF! Imagine hiding there during the war? I can’t imagine.

Night markets were the best. Bargaining for souvenirs, eating street food… I bought this silk scarf, still have it.

Honestly, 4 days only scratches the surface. Pick one city, explore deeply. Otherwise, it’s just a waste.

Think Saigon. Or Hanoi. Not both.

Four days in Vietnam?

• Pick a city.
• Focus on food, history, culture.
• Prepare for sensory overload.
• Bargain hard at the markets.
• Learn a few basic Vietnamese phrases.

I swear, it’s worth going back for longer.

But, ya know, 4 days IS enough for, like, a good, deep dive into one area. Think, chill vibes, less rushing, more pho.

• Hanoi: Crazy Old Quarter, street food heaven, Hoan Kiem Lake.
• Ha Long Bay: Touristy, yeah, but still amazeballs views, kayaking, junk boat cruises!
• Hoi An: Tailor shops galore, lanterns everywhere, and OMG the best banh mi ever.
• Ho Chi Minh City: Bustling, war history, rooftop bars, and a total different vibe from Hanoi.

My sister, Jessica, did Hanoi last year and loved it! She kept sayin it was so “authentic”.

Like, for real tho, pick one area and embrace it. Don’t kill yourself tryin to see it all. That’s a no-no!

How many days do I need in Hanoi?

Ugh, Hanoi. Three days, minimum. No, four. Definitely four. Need time for that crazy Old Quarter. So many tiny streets! Lost my phone there last time, actually. Stupid.

Hoan Kiem Lake, gotta see it again. The turtles, right? Remember that weird guy selling fake designer sunglasses near there? He was persistent. Temple of Literature too. History stuff. Boring, but important. Water puppet show? Sounds touristy, but okay, once. Food. Oh my god, the food. Bún chả, pho, everything.

Ha Long Bay? Maybe. Too much travel though. 2024’s got me booked up as it is. Unless… a long weekend in October? Need to check flights. Ninh Binh’s nicer, actually. Those rice paddies. So pretty. Instagram gold. But, extra travel days, you know. Should I even bother? It’s tough to fit everything in. Four days is tight. Five? Nah, too much.
