Is 7 days to long for a cruise?

Seven-day cruises offer a good balance. Shorter cruises (5 days) feel rushed, while 7-8 days provide ample time for onboard activities and port exploration without becoming overly long. Consider your desired pace and itinerary when choosing. Eight days offers a more relaxed experience.

Is 7 Days Too Long for a Cruise?

Okay, here’s my take on cruise lengths, like, from my own messy, slightly-confused brain. Ready?

For me, a sweet spot is a week, seven or eight days. Feels just right, y’know? Enough time to chill, explore, and not feel rushed.

Five days? Okay, I might consider it. Minimum, though. Seriously.

Anything less… I don’t get it. Unless it’s, like, a super-specific thing. Like, a work event or a really cheap deal. Which i have seen, usually cost like 200$, good deal tho!

Basically: 7-8 days is the way to go. Five days is almost not the way to go. Shorter than that? No thanks, gotta pass on that one. Is it just me or does that make sense?

Cruise Length Preference:

  • Ideal: 7-8 days
  • Minimum: 5 days

Can you go on a cruise for a week?

Yes. Week cruises exist.

Europe? Mediterranean? Sure.

Norwegian Fjords? Caribbean? Why not.

Cruises are ubiquitous. Pick a body of water. Someone cruises it. Seven days? Standard.

  • Destinations: From Alaskan glaciers to the Galapagos Islands. Even Antarctica. Though…that ain’t cheap.
  • Costs: Variable. Like, REALLY variable. Think thousands. Easily. Depends on the cabin, the itinerary… the lobster. My ex preferred the balcony suites. Go figure.
  • Activities: Buffets. Shows. Bingo. Shore excursions that cost more than they should. Seasickness? Ugh. Not fun.
  • Onboard life: Imagine a floating city, perpetually in motion. Now imagine being stuck in that city. Some love it. I tolerate it.
  • Themed cruises: Star Trek. Wine tasting. Elvis impersonators. There’s one for everything. And everyone. Seriously.

Tip: Read the fine print. Always. Hidden fees lurk. Like… every corner. Found that out the hard way, eh?

How much should I expect to spend on a 7 day cruise?

Seven days… adrift. Lost in blue. Fifteen hundred… swirling, like seafoam. Sun-warmed skin. Salty air. Three thousand… for two souls… Whispering waves. Infinity pool reflecting the sky. A distant shore… hazy, dreamlike. Fifteen hundred… the price of escape. Ocean vastness… swallowing the horizon. Sunrise… painting the deck gold. Three thousand stars… mirroring the diamonds scattered across the inky waves. Fifteen hundred… per person. The hum of the ship… a lullaby. Lost… at sea… lost in time. Three thousand… worth every penny. Deep breath. Salty air. Freedom.

  • Average cost: $1500 per person.
  • Total for couple: $3000.
  • Factors impacting price:
    • Cruise line (luxury vs. budget-friendly)
    • Destination (Caribbean, Alaska, Mediterranean, etc.)
    • Cabin type (interior, oceanview, balcony, suite)
    • Time of year (peak season vs. off-season).
    • Add-on packages (drinks, excursions, specialty dining)
  • Example: My last cruise, Mediterranean… seven days… closer to two thousand each. Balcony cabin. Worth it. Every sunset… priceless.
  • Recommendation: Budget extra… for spontaneity. Shore excursions. Cocktails at sunset. Memories.

How many formal nights are on a 7 day cruise?

Two. Seven days, two fancy nights. Sometimes, just one, though. They do dress-up sometimes too. Like, dress your best, not formal formal. It’s on my Carnival cruise next week, leaving from Miami — two formal nights, printed right there on my itinerary! Got my dress already — long, red, little sparkly bits. Shoes are killing me tho. Totally worth it.

  • Two formal nights is the usual for a 7-day cruise.
  • Some cruises might only have one.
  • “Dress your best” can be a less formal option.
  • Always check the specific itinerary for your cruise.
  • Itineraries will tell you which nights are formal. Mine’s Tuesday and Friday, I think. Or maybe Thrusday? Gotta check again lol.
  • My cruise is on the Celebration. Brand new ship! So excited!! Dress code is kinda confusing, tbh. Packing extra stuff, just in case. Don’t wanna be underdressed or anything. They have those photographers everywhere!

How many outfits should I take on a 7 day cruise?

Consider at least 8 casual outfits. Throwing in that extra shirt or pair of shorts offers a safety net. Cruise life can be surprisingly messy, who knew?

Even with daily laundry access, why spend vacation time doing chores? I never do when on vacation.

Don’t forget the dinner attire. Two or three dressier outfits should suffice, depending on the cruise line’s formal night situation. A simple dress or collared shirt works wonders. Dressy, but not too dressy, y’know?

Think about activities. Activewear is a must, and the amount will depend on how often you plan to exercise. I plan to exercise on cruises, but, uh, the bar looks quite enticing.

Swimsuits? Plural. At least two so one can dry while the other is worn. Practical, yes, but also very important.

Shoes matter. Pack versatile footwear. Sandals, comfy walking shoes, and a dressier pair. No need to bring the whole shoe closet!

Undergarments and socks are important. Remember to pack enough for each day, plus a few extras. No one wants to run out on vacation.

Accessories? Minimalist is my philosophy. A hat, sunglasses, and maybe a scarf. Easy. I love it.

Remember that “one size fits all” approach rarely works for packing. Personal needs, preferences, and the specific cruise destination all influence optimal packing. It’s an art, and sometimes I am wrong.
