Is a 3-hour international layover enough time?
Ugh, three hours for an international layover? It's a crapshoot, really.
Depends entirely on the airport. Doha? Piece of cake. Amman? Maybe, depending on the airline. Smaller airports? Nope, not enough time. I once had a two-hour layover in Istanbul – pure chaos.
Changing airlines adds at least an hour, minimum, seriously. Security lines, finding the right gate… it’s a marathon, not a sprint. Remember that time in Heathrow last December? Two hours, missed my flight, cost me £300 for a new one.
For a smooth transfer, you need at least three hours on the same airline, four if you're switching airlines. It’s a buffer, a cushion, essential! But, less than that is a gamble.
Three hours, same airline, same airport: generally yes. Different airlines or airports? I'd say no, too risky. Better safe than sorry.
