Is it better to arrive 2 hours before flight or boarding?

Arrive at the airport two hours before your domestic flight. This allows ample time for check-in, baggage drop-off, security screening, and reaching your gate before boarding closes. While some airlines may state shorter times, two hours provides a buffer for unexpected delays, ensuring a smoother travel experience.

How Early Should I Arrive for My Flight?

Ugh, flying stresses me out. Two hours before a domestic flight, that’s what they always say, right? That’s what I aim for, anyway.

Seriously, last time I was at LAX on July 12th, the security line was insane. Took me easily forty-five minutes, which was crazy.

For international flights though, I’d add another hour, maybe more. You just never know. My flight to Rome last year (March 1st, Alitalia, $1200 oof!), I was so glad I left early; customs was a nightmare.

So yeah, two hours for domestic, three for international, at least. Just my personal rule of thumb, you know? To avoid any stress.

Should I arrive 2 hours before flight or boarding?

Two hours…domestic. Three, international. Ugh, that security line. Remember that time in Denver? Total chaos. Should’ve packed snacks. Always forget snacks. Boarding…that’s…different. Boarding is like…right before you get on. Duh. Definitely not 2 hours before. Maybe 30 mins? Depends on the airport though. Atlanta…huge. Need a tram. So annoying. Precheck helps…gotta renew that soon. Check in online. Saves so much time. Passport…where is it? Expiration date…2025…good. Global Entry…worth it. Especially international. Baggage check…another line. Overpack every time. Need to get better at that. Gate changes…the worst. Ran across LAX once…missed connection. Never again. Two hours minimum. Three for international. Just do it. Phone charger…in the carry-on. Right? Better check.

Arrive two hours pre-flight. Domestic.

Three. International—minimum.

  • Check-in.
  • Security.
  • Gate.

Enough time? Hope so.
