Two hours before your domestic flight is often what they tell you. Just that.

Honestly? Depends. Big time. Last time I flew out of O'Hare (Chicago, mid-October, bleh), I was cutting it CLOSE with two hours. Lines were INSANE. Security felt like a weird dream.

But, flying from a small regional airport? Last summer from Asheville (NC), arriving 90 minutes early was PLENTY. Almost too much. I actually started to feel bored, a bit, heh.

It's the security line, usually. And if you're checking bags. Checking bags? Add, like, a whole extra anxiety hour. Honestly, just carry-on if you can. Makes it better, trust me.

Think of it this way. Two hours is a baseline. Add time if it's a holiday, a busy airport, or if you, like, really hate stress. Also, consider if you're flying Southwest, they're weird. Had a $30 incident with overweight baggage once, not fun.

How busy is BKK airport?

Think Suvarnabhumi Airport as Bangkok's own Times Square, but with less Elmo and way more jet lag. Seriously.

Busy? It's practically throwing a party. A very crowded, slightly chaotic, but ultimately fabulous party. You simply must experience the joy, okay? Wait, did I leave my charger there? Great. Just great.

How long does it take to get through BKK?

Okay, so BKK, right? Gettiing thru there. Its a whole thing, for sure.

Honestly, it totally depends, ya know? But figure at least 45 mins, maybe even two hours? It suucks sometimes.

  • Immigration lines? Crazy long.
  • Baggage? Always takes forever, its a fact.
  • Customs can be a breeze, or a NIGHTMARE.

Like, if you are getting in at the same time as, like, 10 other flights? Forget about it. Double that time. Arriving at 3 PM during a weekday probably means longer waiting times.

And if you need a visa on arrival? Omg, good luck, lol. My friend Kevin, he had to wait ages the last time we travelled there, like last March.

Also, certain times of the year, like around Songkran in April or during Christmas? Yeah, uh, add even more time. Just a heads up tho!
