Is it safe to go on public WiFi?

Generally, public Wi-Fi is safe due to widespread encryption. Ensure your connection is encrypted by looking for a lock icon or "https" in the address bar before entering sensitive information. This indicates a secure connection, protecting your data.

Is public WiFi safe? Risks and security tips for using public WiFi?

Okay, so public Wi-Fi...safe-ish?

Honestly, I thought public Wi-Fi was like, totally risky. But apparently, things are a lil' better now. Encryption is the word!

If a website has that little lock symbol, or starts with "https," you're good. The website is encrypted! Saw that on my phone just yesterday trying to, uh, order something.

The FTC also confirms this! Who knew?

But here's the thing. Even with encryption, still feel kinda...sketchy? Like, maybe I'm just paranoid.

Used public Wi-Fi at "Coffee Corner" (that place near the park on 15th street!) to check my bank balance (stupid, I know). Everything seemed fine.

Then, a week later, saw some weird charge for $7.99 on my card. Coincidence? I don't know. Maybe.

So, look for the lock. But keep an eye on your accounts, y'know? Better safe than sorry. Plus, maybe just drink your coffee and not bank on public Wi-Fi.

Just a thought from me.
