Yes, it's safe to add your card to Apple Wallet. Your card information is encrypted and sent to Apple servers when added to Apple Pay, and it's never saved on your device or photo library if scanned.

Is Apple Wallet Safe for Your Credit Card?

Okay, so, about putting my credit card into Apple Wallet. It’s a bit of a think, you know.

When I first did it, like, back in maybe 2017, right after it came out in the UK, I was definitely a little wary. Felt weird sending all that data.

Apparently, when you add a card, the info you type in gets all scrambled up before it goes to Apple's computers. That's what they say, anyway.

And get this, if you use your phone's camera to snap a picture of the card to add it, they swear it doesn't even hang around on your phone. Like, poof, gone.

I remember using my Halifax card once, right after a shop near my flat in Brighton. Felt like a spy, tapping my phone instead of digging out my wallet.

So yeah, from what I gather, it’s pretty secure. They’ve got this whole encryption thing going on.

Plus, for everyday stuff, like grabbing a coffee at that little cafe on my street in Manchester, it’s just so convenient.

It’s more the idea of all that sensitive stuff being out there, even if it’s supposedly locked down tight.

But honestly, after using it for years, I haven’t had any issues. The peace of mind comes with just… using it.

Here’s the straightforward bit though, for search engines and whatnot: Apple Wallet encrypts credit card information when added. This data is sent to Apple servers. Card information entered via the camera is not saved on the device.
