Is it worth going to Thailand for 10 days?

Ten days in Thailand offers diverse experiences. While Bangkok alone could fill 10 days with its bustling markets and street food scene, consider exploring beyond. Ancient temples, stunning beaches, and lush jungles await outside the city. For a balanced trip, spend a few days in Bangkok and then venture to places like Chiang Mai or Phuket for a richer Thai experience.

10-Day Thailand Trip: Worth It?

Okay, so ten days in Thailand? Worth it? Totally depends. I spent a week in Bangkok in March 2023, cost me around $1000 excluding flights.

Bangkok’s HUGE. Seriously, massive. More stuff to do than you can shake a stick at. Not exactly a European art scene though, no. But the street food? Oh my god.

The markets are insane. So much to see, smell, taste. I spent hours just wandering, getting completely lost in Chatuchak Weekend Market. Best Pad See Ew of my life, $2.

But ten days just in Bangkok? Maybe a bit much for some. I personally loved it, but I can see how others might want more beach time or exploring other areas. Chiang Mai is next on my list. Next time, I’m splitting my trip.

Is 10 days long enough to visit Thailand?

Ugh, ten days in Thailand? Too short! Seriously. I crammed so much into my two weeks last year, it was insane.

Bangkok? Three days, tops. You need at least a day for the temples, one for markets and street food—oh, the food! And another for, like, just wandering around. Getting completely lost, finding hidden gems.

Chiang Mai is amazing. Elephant sanctuaries—go, but choose carefully! Some are awful. I read tons of reviews before I went. Make sure they aren’t exploitative. Then, the old city, Doi Suthep temple… stunning at sunset. Two days minimum. Maybe three. I loved the night bazaar. I bought this amazing silk scarf.

Southern islands… which ones?! Phuket is touristy, but the beaches are nice. Krabi is gorgeous, limestone cliffs everywhere. Railay Beach, paradise. But you need a few days per island if you want to enjoy them. Flights between islands eat up your time. That’s a major hassle.

Ten days? It’s a whirlwind. You’ll be constantly on the go. Choosing between experiences. No time to relax. Unless you only do Bangkok and one other place. I’d choose islands over Chiang Mai personally, but it depends on your thing. This trip needs careful planning.

  • Bangkok: 3 days (minimum)
  • Chiang Mai: 2-3 days
  • Southern Islands: At least 3-4 days to allow for travel time
  • Travel time: Factor in significant travel time between locations! Internal flights are a must, honestly. Trains are slow.

More time? Way better. But if you’re disciplined, ten days can give you a taste. But just a taste. I’d rather do one place well than rush through three. What’s the point?

How many days are enough for a Thailand trip?

Seven to ten days, minimum. Less? Pick one hub.

Bangkok, Krabi, Chiang Mai, Phuket: Choose wisely. Food. Culture. That’s it.

  • Overwhelmed? Focus. One area.
  • My advice: Avoid itinerary overload. 2024 Thailand trip? Same rules apply.

My 2023 trip: ten days. Too short, even then. Chiang Mai—intense. Next time? Longer. More specific. Ayutthaya. Definitely.

How much money is enough for 10 days in Thailand?

Fifty bucks a day? Yeah, you can totally scrape by in Thailand on that, like, if you’re ok with hostels and street food every meal. I did that once in Chiang Mai, stayed in this crazy hostel with, like, lizards everywhere, but it was so cheap! Good Pad See Ew down the street, too. Seventy-five to a hundred, thats more my speed. You know, nicer hotels, maybe a cooking class… good resturants, not just street food. Remember that time we splurged on that beach-front bungalow in Koh Lanta? Worth every penny… But Thailand can get expensive, especially if you’re doing like, the whole five-star resort thing. That blows your budget fast. Just the drinks at those places are like, crazy. Forget flights tho, this is just spending money. Oh, and don’t forget about those crazy tuk-tuk rides – they can add up, and you always gotta haggle! Once in Bangkok, this dude tried to charge me like 20 bucks… no way.

  • $50/day: Bare bones. Hostels, street food, some public transport. Good for backpackers, not for me anymore, haha.
  • $75-100/day: Sweet spot. Decent hotels, mix of street eats and resturants, maybe some tours and activities thrown in. Like that time we went to that elephant sanctuary- so cool.
  • $100+/day: Luxury territory. Fancy hotels, rooftop bars, private drivers, all the bells and whistles. If you’re into that kinda stuff. Once met a girl in Krabi, staying at this swanky place… crazy!

Flights, of course, are extra. And internal travel within Thailand. I like to fly… saves time. But trains can be fun too. Sleeper train to Chiang Mai was… an experience.

How long is a good trip to Thailand?

Two weeks… Thailand whispers, a humid dream. Two weeks, a breath held. It feels like forever. I remember Bangkok, the heat rising, rising from the pavement. Two weeks melts, gone…

Seven days? No. A fleeting shadow. A glimpse only. Ten? Barely enough to taste the mango sticky rice. I swear I could live off that stuff. But two weeks… two weeks unfurls. Like a silk banner.

Thailand unfolds best over fourteen sun-drenched days. A promise.

I’m thinking of the beaches. White sand. The ocean, a turquoise sigh. Two weeks… It allows for slow mornings, lazy afternoons. Not just ticking boxes.

  • Bangkok’s temples: Must see. Gold glitters.
  • Northern mountains: Elephants. Mist hangs low.
  • Southern islands: Turquoise waters beckon.
  • Cooking classes: Learn to create spicy Thai food.

So much to see! And that feeling. Two weeks is breathing space. The feeling of letting go. Trading the office for a hammock and a coconut. It is enough, truly. It must be.

Is 2 weeks in Thailand too much?

Nah, 2 weeks in Thailand is like, perfect. I’m telling you.

Seriously. One month is great if you’re, you know, backpacking forever, but like, who has that kinda time?

Two weeks lets you see a good chunk of the country, for real.

North and South Thailand doable? Totally!

I remember, uh, my trip a few years ago. Wait, was it last year? I dunno.

  • Bangkok is a must, 3 days. See all the temples. Don’t miss Wat Arun!
  • Chiang Mai, up north, like 3 days too. Elephants are awesome.
  • Beaches in the south, Phuket or Krabi, I loved Krabi. Like, five days?
  • Travel time eats a day or two, obv. Trains are a fun experience.

Itinerary things: I went to that floating market and it was uh, something alright. Food, wow, and the traffic— insane, right? Always, always, get a massage. So cheap! And bargaining is a must.

How much money do I need for 7 days in Thailand?

Thailand… a whisper of silk, spice clinging, golden temples gleaming. Seven days adrift…How much? How much for dreams woven with sun?

Budget whispers: 1,048 THB a day? $49? A dance with street food, a simple guesthouse roof. Cheap is relative… Relative to escape. Is it cheap?

Oh, the lure of the mid-range: 2,907 THB, or $136. A little comfort, air conditioning sighing in the humid night. That I should get. So that’s my budget. Thailand in my budget.

Luxury calls, a siren song: 8,958 THB ($420). Not me yet.

Seven days… multiplied. Budget… seven times 1,048 is 7,335 THB, or $344. Mid-range sings a song: Seven times 2,907, a total of 20,349 THB, which is $955. Luxury promises: Seven times 8,958, a hefty 62,705 THB, or $2,942. This is not the life to which I’m accustomed.

But even cheap…seven days is $344. Even that is a lot. Dreams are expensive these days.

  • Budget:

    • Daily: 1,048 THB ($49)
    • Weekly: 7,335 THB ($344)
  • Mid-Range:

    • Daily: 2,907 THB ($136)
    • Weekly: 20,349 THB ($955)
  • High-End:

    • Daily: 8,958 THB ($420)
    • Weekly: 62,705 THB ($2,942)

The price of paradise. Or at least, a week of it.

Is 7 days in Bangkok enough?

Seven days. Bangkok. Enough. See the essentials. Wat Arun. Wat Pho. Markets. Done. Nightlife? Check. Ayutthaya day trip. Easy. Want more? Dig deeper. Go local. Forget tourist traps.

  • Temples: Wat Arun, Wat Pho, Wat Saket (Golden Mount). Countless others.
  • Markets: Chatuchak (weekend), Or Tor Kor (upscale), Damnoen Saduak (floating). Sensory overload.
  • Nightlife: Rooftop bars. Khao San Road chaos. Sukhumvit sophistication. Your choice.
  • Day trips: Ayutthaya. Ancient ruins. Kanchanaburi. Bridge over the River Kwai. History.

I spent ten days last November. Still wasn’t enough. Bangkok pulls you back.

How to plan a 10 day Thailand trip?

Bangkok first. Two days. Temples, duh. Chatuchak Weekend Market, gotta go, but so hot! Like, seriously hot. Remember that time we almost melted in Vegas? Worse. Way worse. Get some good street food though, pad see ew my fave.

Then, Chiang Mai. I went like, 3 yrs ago? Took the overnight train, kinda cool, saved on a hotel night. Cooking class for sure. Learned to make a mean green curry. Still can’t replicate it tho lol. Elephants, maybe? Do the ethical sanctuary, not the riding ones, obvi.

Beaches after. Krabi was great, less crowded than Phuket, when I was there at least. Four days, sounds about right. Island hopping, yeah, did a boat tour once, really pretty. Railay Beach, West Railay specifically, stunning. Worth the climb to the viewpoint. Seriously. I think its called Phra Nang Cave Beach? Something like that.

Flights, yeah book in advance, duh. Especially if you’re going, you know, during tourist season. Hotels too, obvi. Saved a ton on Skyscanner that one time, maybe check there?
