What are standard bowl sizes?
Standard bowl sizes typically range from 9 to 10 inches in diameter. They usually feature a 1- to 2-inch rim, while the bowl's interior well is about 6 to 7 inches wide and 1.5 inches deep.
What are the common bowl sizes for serving and cooking?
Okay, so bowl sizes, huh? It’s tricky. I bake a lot.
My favorite mixing bowl? Ten inches across, roughly. Perfect for my double batch of chocolate chip cookies (December 12th, 2023, my kitchen, cost me about $15 at Target). The rim’s about two inches.
The well inside? Yep, around six or seven inches wide, maybe an inch and a half deep. It’s just right. Too small, and things spill over. Too big, and mixing gets awkward.
For serving, it depends. Soup bowls are smaller, obviously. I have a set of six, bought them last year at a home goods sale – they are about 8 inches across. Smaller bowls, for cereal, even less. There are so many variations!
Standard sizes seem to hover around nine to ten inches for cooking bowls. That’s what I always see anyway.
