What are the disadvantages of using a cheque?
Ugh, cheques, right? I remember this one time, I was trying to pay my rent with a cheque – a massive one, because rent in this city is insane – and it took like, a week to clear! A whole week! A week of agonizing, wondering if my landlord was going to be on my back. Talk about stress. That’s the main disadvantage, really, isn't it? The sheer agonizing wait. The money's just sitting there, in limbo, not doing anything useful. It's so frustrating!
And then there's the bouncing cheque nightmare. My brother? Learned that lesson the hard way. Tried to buy a motorbike with a cheque, didn't have enough in his account. The embarrassment! The fees! Plus, it really damaged his credit score, and that’s something that follows you around for ages. It's not just a little inconvenience, it can be seriously damaging. So yeah, bouncing is a big deal. You don’t want to go there. I mean, who does?
So, slow clearing times and the risk of bouncing – those are the two big problems, I think. Cheques are just…old fashioned, aren't they? There are so many better, quicker ways to pay these days. I’d much rather just tap my phone and be done with it. Much less stressful, anyway.
