What happens if you miss online check-in?
What are the consequences of missing an online check-in for flights?
Okay, so you wanna know what happens if ya miss that online check-in? Well, lemme tell ya from experience.
Basically, you can still get your boarding pass at the airport. Free of charge! It's happened to me at least twice, haha. Usually just means waiting in line at the counter instead.
Some smaller airports might not offer online check-in at all, which always throws me for a loop.
One time, flying Ryanair from Ciampino, Italy (around 30 eur flight, remember that?), my phone died. Total panic! Couldn't check in online. Thought I was doomed. Turns out, it was fine! Went to the desk, showed my ID, and they printed my pass. Whew!
So, yeah, don't stress too much. Airport check-in to the rescue! Just budget some extra time, just in case. You know, airport lines can be killer.
What if you forgot to web check-in?
Oh shoot, missed web check-in again? Argh! Airport counter it is. Gotta check in there now, ugh the lines. Why do I always do this?
- Airport check-in: Ugh.
- Lines: Inevitable.
- My fault: Definitely.
I wonder if they'll charge me a fee now? Or if I'll get stuck in a middle seat next to someone snoring. Reminds me of that flight to Aunt Carol's last December, ugh. Maybe I should just get TSA PreCheck already? Is it worth it though...
- Fees: Possible.
- Middle seat: Likely.
- TSA PreCheck: Hmmm.
Wait, maybe I can still use the app? Sometimes it lets you even after. Worth a shot, right? Quick, gotta try it. App might save me. Plus, I have $135 airline credit still. Okay, trying the app. Fingers crossed!
What happens if you check-in online and dont turn up?
Ugh, this happened to me last year, July 2023, flying from Gatwick to Lisbon. I'd meticulously checked in online for TAP Portugal flight 345. Felt so smug, you know? Avoiding that airport queue. Then, BAM! Life happened. A family emergency. Complete chaos. Missed my flight. Completely forgot.
My heart sank when I saw the email later. Forfeited the whole £350. Brutal! Absolutely brutal. No refund, nothing. Learn from my mistake, people. Online check-in isn't a guarantee.
- Lesson learned: Online check-in is NOT a free pass.
- Cost: £350 down the drain. That's a holiday fund gone!
- Airline: TAP Portugal.
- Flight Number: TP345.
- Date: July 2023.
I was so mad at myself. Stupid, stupid, stupid. I had travel insurance, but it didn't cover no-shows. The irony! I should have called them as soon as I knew I couldn’t make it, maybe they could have done something, but no. Just plain old regret. Now I always double check everything at least twice. Seriously. Triple check even.
