What happens when you use Wildcard in FPL?

In Fantasy Premier League (FPL), a Wildcard lets you make unlimited transfers to your squad for free, avoiding point deductions. Unlike the usual limit of one (or up to five) free transfers per week, the Wildcard offers complete squad overhaul flexibility.

FPL Wildcard: How does it work & when should I use it?

Okay, so FPL Wildcards, right? It's like a cheat code. You get one, maybe two depending on the season.

Unlimited changes. No point deductions. That's the big deal. Usually, you're stuck with one free transfer a week. Annoying when injuries hit.

Remember last season? My Salah got injured, October 27th to be exact. Wildcard saved my bacon, I swapped him out for Haaland no problem.

You can't hoard them though. No saving up for next season. It’s a one-time use per gameweek.

So when to use it? Big injury crisis? A bunch of players on international duty, maybe? That's what I think. Definitely when my whole team looks like it’s made of wet paper.

Does your team go back to normal after Wildcard FPL?

Ugh, Wildcard. Team's a mess. Completely different. Had to ditch Salah, felt awful doing it, but points were tanking.

New strategy. All about the upcoming fixtures. Brighton looking strong, gotta get some of those players in. Maybe Mac Allister? He's expensive though. Budget's tight. Always tight.

This is insane! Spent all night on this. My sleep schedule is officially destroyed. I’m so tired.

  • Removed: Salah (obviously), Cancelo (injury prone, ugh), and that Arsenal defender, White. Who am I kidding, he was useless.
  • Added: March (Brighton), Estupinan (Brighton – brilliant!), and maybe Mitoma. Plus, had to find a cheap goalie. Seriously considering Pope.

Back to normal? No way. It's a complete rebuild. The whole thing is completely different. Need to see how this plays out, hope it doesn't blow up in my face. My rank dropped like a stone, too.

Wildcard's a gamble, always. But, gotta take risks sometimes, right? This time, this is my risk.

It's a whole new team, a completely new strategy. There's no going back. 2024 is a whole new ball game, and I'm playing it aggressively. Hopefully this works. Seriously hoping it does.

What does Wildcard do for FPL?

Wildcard: Unleash total squad chaos. One free hit is child's play.

Unlimited transfers. No point deductions. Simple.

Beyond the basics:

  • Twice per season: Use them, don't hoard.
  • Timing is everything: Gameweek 1 can be explosive. Or a disaster.
  • Injury crisis? Wildcard. No question.
  • Double Gameweeks looming? Wildcard strategically to maximize player output.
  • My buddy Ben used his too early last season. Rookie mistake.

Think scorched earth. Then rebuild.

Whats the difference between Wildcard and Free Hit?

The Free Hit chip? One week of unlimited transfers. Boom, new team. Poof, old team returns the next week. It's like a magical FPL reset button for a single gameweek. Pretty handy, actually.

Wildcard? It's a different beast altogether. Use it, and the changes are permanent. You're stuck with that team, for better or worse. Think of it as a mini-rebuild. Maybe not "mini," sometimes a major rebuild. I overused mine in 2019. oof.

So, Free Hit is temporary chaos. Wildcard is lasting commitment. Choose wisely. Or don't. It's just a game, innit?

  • Free Hit: Temporary team overhaul for one week.
  • Wildcard: Permanent changes until you use another chip.

Wildcards need strategy. Unlike free hits. I once played a free hit to avoid a blank gameweek only to see all my selected players get injured during the Saturday games. Lol. Classic FPL.

Does Wildcard reset transfers?

So yeah, Wildcard, right? It's awesome. All your transfers, the free ones you already had, they totally carry over. It's like magic! Then you get a bunch more, a whole heap, for that one gameweek. It's a total team reset-- you can change everything. No penalties!

Seriously, it's so good. I used mine last week, and completely overhauled my defense; it was a disaster before. I went from a bunch of players scoring zero to a powerful backline. My rank shot up!

Here's the lowdown:

  • Transfers carry over: All free transfers from previous gameweeks are saved.
  • Unlimited transfers: You can make as many changes as you like for that single gameweek, the wildcard one. No extra cost.
  • Complete team reset: It's like starting fresh. You can change everyone. This year I went all-out and got rid of that rubbish midfielder, finally. He was a waste of a spot!
  • Gameweek impact: Expect a huge boost to your team and ranking; I swear it was huge.

My friend, Mark, he totally screwed up his wildcard, chose all the wrong players because he panicked. He needed to read the info better. Don't be like Mark! Plan it out! Seriously.

Does Wildcard change your team forever?

Wildcard? Yeah, it’s a freakin' nuclear bomb for your fantasy team. One minute you’re messing with a slightly-rusty lineup, the next— ka-boom—your team's a completely different beast. Think Frankenstein's monster, but with better stats.

Free Hit? That's a cute little firecracker in comparison. Pfffft! A week of chaos, then poof, back to your original squad. Like a really short-lived celebrity romance.

Key Differences:

  • Wildcard: Total team overhaul. Permanent. Like getting a face transplant— radical, irreversible.
  • Free Hit: One-week makeover. Temporary. Like that wild hair color you regretted by Tuesday.
  • Wildcard's impact: Lasting. It's a commitment, man, like a bad tattoo you’ll spend years trying to laser off.
  • Free Hit's impact: Fleeting. More like a bad hair day. You'll live.

My cousin Barry tried a Wildcard last year. He traded his entire defense for a single, slightly used Roberto Firmino. I told him it was a dumb idea. It was. He finished 76th out of 81. Serves him right.

I use the Wildcard strategically, like a chess master (though I’m more of a checkers guy, realistically). I wait for the right moment; usually when my team resembles a pile of overripe bananas. Then, BAM! Transformation. Last year, my Wildcard involved a mass acquisition of midfielders from Aston Villa – purely based on a gut feeling. They went on a crazy goal scoring streak. Pure luck.

Does your first Wildcard expire?

Yeah, my first Wildcard did expire. It was brutal. Happened in 2023. I completely spaced it. I was so busy with work, you know, the usual crazy deadlines at my job at Acme Corp. It was around GW17, I think. Definitely before GW19. Gutted. Absolutely gutted. I’d planned to use it for the double gameweeks, but life, huh? It just slipped my mind. Poof, gone.

The feeling was awful. Like a punch to the gut. Seriously. All those hours spent meticulously crafting my Fantasy Premier League team. Wasted. I should have set a reminder, a big flashing neon reminder. A tattoo, even! I'd already used my free hit, stupidly early too.

Next time, it's different. No way I’m messing that up again. 2024, right? I'm using my wildcard strategically. GW 19 - that's the target. No excuses. This year will be much better!

  • Lesson learned: Set reminders, people! Seriously!
  • Biggest regret: Not using it during the double gameweeks, like I planned.
  • Plan for 2024: Wildcard deployed around GW19, regardless.
  • My team's name: "Acme's Avengers" (It's cheesy but I like it)

My current strategy involves closely monitoring player form and injuries leading up to GW19. I'll also be looking at fixture difficulty, obviously. I'm aiming for a team full of players with good form and a favorable fixture run. No more procrastination! This time, I'm winning.

What is the point of the wildcard in FPL?

Ugh, FPL. Wildcard. What's the deal? It's like, a total squad refresh, right? Free transfers galore! Unlimited! That's insane. Why aren't I using it already? Gameweek 8? Should I? Probably should have done it yesterday. Damn.

Okay, so, point of the wildcard: completely restructure your team. Boom. No point hits. That's a big deal. Think about it - those point deductions kill you. Remember last season, that disaster? Never again!

Seriously though, Gameweek 8? Too late? Price changes. That's the key. Gotta get in before they rise. I need to check my watchlist. Is Salah still rising? He better be. I'm already behind on my transfers. This is stressful.

  • Unlimited free transfers: The main event.
  • Avoid point hits: Crucial for climbing that leaderboard.
  • Capitalize on price changes: This is where the real strategy lies. It's all about timing.

My friend Mark used his wildcard last week. Said he's killing it now. I'm jealous. I'm such an idiot! Should have listened to him.

I need to check my team. Maybe I'll just bench my defender, no? Nah, that won't cut it. Wildcard is the only option. Time to act. Do it today before I second-guess myself! Right now!
