What happens when you use your debit card?

Okay, so using my debit card… it's a whole thing, you know? It’s like, instant gratification mixed with this low-key dread. I mean, the money’s just gone right away! Poof! Makes me nervous. One time, I swear, I bought groceries – nothing crazy, just the usual stuff – and my card got declined. Right there at the checkout. Mortifying! Turns out, I’d completely forgotten about a bill payment that had gone through earlier that day. So embarrassing. Now, I'm like a hawk with my banking app. Obsessive, maybe? Probably. But who wants to face that kind of public humiliation again? Right?!

But then… the cashback! Okay, that part is pretty sweet. Like, getting a few bucks back on gas? Yes, please! It's not a fortune or anything, but it does soften the blow of, you know, actually spending the money in the first place. It feels like a tiny win in the adulting game, which, let’s be honest, is mostly just a series of stressful financial decisions. Don't you think? So yeah, debit cards. A necessary evil?
