What is extended delivery on Deliveroo?

Deliveroo's Extended Delivery: Bridging the Distance, Fairly

Craving that perfect Pad Thai from across town? Deliveroo's extended delivery feature makes it possible, connecting you with restaurants beyond their usual delivery zone. But what exactly does "extended delivery" entail, and why does it come with a small fee?

Essentially, extended delivery allows you to order from restaurants located further away than the standard radius. This opens up a wider range of culinary choices, bringing previously inaccessible favorites right to your door. However, covering that extra mileage requires more time and effort from Deliveroo's riders.

To ensure riders are fairly compensated for these longer journeys, a minimal extended delivery fee is applied to these orders. This fee directly contributes to the rider's earnings, recognizing the additional fuel, time, and effort involved in traveling the extended distance. Think of it as a small contribution towards ensuring sustainable and fair practices for the people delivering your meal.

It's important to note that orders utilizing extended delivery are ineligible for free delivery promotions. This policy maintains consistency and ensures that riders always receive appropriate compensation for their work, regardless of promotional offers. While you might not be able to use a free delivery voucher on an extended delivery order, you're supporting a system that values and fairly compensates the individuals who make these deliveries possible.

So, next time you're browsing Deliveroo and see the "extended delivery" tag, you'll understand it signifies a broader culinary horizon, coupled with a fair system that ensures riders are properly compensated for going the extra mile – literally. It allows you to enjoy a wider variety of food while supporting the hard work of the delivery riders who bring it to you.
