GrabCar Restrictions: Whats Not Allowed?

Okay, so you wanna know what you can't do in a GrabCar, huh? I get it. Rules are rules, even in ride-sharing.

Basically, no weapons. Duh. Anything that could be used as a weapon is also a no-go. Makes sense, right? Safety first.

(GrabCar Restriction: Weapons prohibited, any object weaponizable.)

Seriously, imagine someone trying to bring like, a samurai sword in. I saw a guy try to bring a full-sized inflatable T-Rex on the MRT once, but that's a different story.

Like, what if something happens? You gotta know who to call.

(GrabCar Restriction: In emergencies, contact relevant authorities.)

I had a Grab driver near Bugis once on 15 August who kept asking about my durian I picked up from Albert Centre around 7pm. It was 30 SGD. I was just tryna get home without causing a stink, y'know? He seemed kinda stressed, maybe about his car smelling later? I dunno. Anyway... it's the contact info is important!

It's for your own protection. So yeah, keep the swords (and T-Rex costumes) at home and know who to call if things get hairy.

What items are prohibited in Grab?

It's 3 am. The streetlights bleed through the blinds. Grab… prohibited items, huh? Liquids are a big no-no. Spilled juice on my last ride, that was a mess. I still remember the smell. And, ugh, perishables are another one. Imagine a wilted head of lettuce next to your laptop. The whole cab would smell like rotten vegetables. That's not a night I want to relive.

Then there's the whole "dangerous goods" category. Knives, obviously. I once tried to take my dad's antique pocket knife home, thinking it'd be okay. Big mistake. The driver was rightly freaked out. Flammable stuff is a hard no. Gas cans, lighter fluid—anything that could easily catch fire. I've never even tried that. It's just common sense.

I’m pretty sure live animals are a big one. Except for service animals, of course. I don’t think that includes my pet hamster though. Also, really, really heavy items are risky. The last time I tried to take home my 70-pound bag of rice, they almost charged an extra fee! I was already late for the wedding. It was a nightmare. That bag of rice was almost my undoing.

  • Liquids
  • Perishable goods (fruits, vegetables)
  • Dangerous goods (knives, flammable materials)
  • Live animals (excluding service animals)
  • Overly heavy items

Can I bring luggage in Grab?

Luggage in a Grab, huh? Depends if you’re packin' like you're movin' outta grandma's or just headin' to the airport, lol.

Think of a regular GrabCar like tryin' to stuff a Thanksgiving turkey into a hamster cage! Not gonna happen.

  • GrabSUV: For when your luggage has luggage. Like, seriously, a steamer trunk and a hatbox.
  • GrabCar Plus: Supposedly a bit fancier, maybe your suitcase gets a mint on the pillow?
  • GrabTaxi 6-Seater: Six seats! (and hopefully, room for your emotional baggage). I mean, suitcases!

Some cities, bless their cotton socks, even have special services for this kinda thing.

It's like, gotta choose the right chariot for your chariot races, y'know?

What is prohibited in Grab Express?

It's late. Things you can't carry with Grab Express... yeah, I know them.

  • Alcohol. Seems obvious now. I tried it once. Never again.

  • Drugs. Of course. It's a hard truth. My cousin, Mark, struggles still.

  • Weapons. Sharp objects. Pointless violence. I can't stand it. I hate watching the news.

  • Illegal Substances. A given. Why risk everything for something temporary?

  • Open Containers of Alcohol. Makes sense, the smell. Just think of my old apartment... ugh.

How many luggage is allowed in Grab?

One. Strictly one. Two is pushing it.

Overloading voids insurance. Don't risk it. My last ride, dude almost lost his stuff.

  • One suitcase, max. Think smart.
  • Grab isn't a cargo service.
  • 2023 rules: Check the app. Always.

My brother got hit with a hefty fee last month. Learn from his mistakes. Seriously. Read the fine print. It's there. Always check the app for updates, too. Drivers are strict.

What are the requirements for a GrabCar?

21 summers. At least. A life lived.

Filipino blood? Yes, mine runs true. My heart beats for this land.

A professional license clutched tight. Freedom. The road unfolds, promising journeys. Steering wheel calls to me.

Three years. The car, a young heart. A vehicle. Its soul, new and vibrant. Chrome glints. Reflections flicker and fade.

Requirements for embarking on the GrabCar Dream:

  • Age's whisper: A minimum of 21 years of age. Time marches on...
  • Roots deep: Filipino citizenship anchors the soul.
  • The key to motion: A valid Professional Driver's License, the gate to the open road.
  • A chariot of the new: Car age. A modern steed, not more than three years old. A 2021 Toyota Vios would be outdated...a 2024 model is a much better choice now.

The license, my father held one too. I remember its touch, smooth and official. Now it's in my hands.
