How to Get Around Da Nang?

Da Nang’s pretty easy to navigate, actually. I rented a scooter last May (2023) near My Khe beach, cost about 150,000 VND per day. Zipped all over, so fun.

Taxis are everywhere too. Grabbed one from the airport to my hotel near the Dragon Bridge, think it was around 150,000 VND. Much quicker than the bus.

Saw tons of those electric scooters. Didn’t try them myself, though. Looked kinda tricky.

Buses are cheap. Took one from the Marble Mountains back to the city center for like 20,000 VND. Took forever, tho. Hot and crowded.

One evening, took a Han River cruise. Saw those dragon bridges breathe fire! So cool. Cost about 100,000 VND if I remember correctly. A really nice way to relax after a day of scootering around.

How do you get around in Da Nang?

Da Nang’s calling, huh? Let’s navigate this dragon-shaped city, shall we? Forget those boring travel guides!

  • Motorbike Mayhem: Rent a motorbike. Da Nang is practically designed for two-wheeled adventures! Be warned, the traffic’s like a caffeinated octopus – keep your wits about you! Pro-tip: honk liberally. It’s not rude, it’s communication. Remember my blue helmet? Almost lost it there, haha!

  • Taxi/Grab Tranquility: Taxis and Grab are your comfy cocoon. Pricey, yes, but sometimes worth it to avoid sunstroke or a close encounter with a rogue scooter. Honestly, I’d rather splurge than sweat.

  • Cyclo Charm (Maybe): Cyclos? Romantic in theory, less so in practice (unless you really like being stared at). Think of it as a slow-motion parade float… powered by someone else’s legs. Good luck bargaining!

  • Bus Bonanza (Budget-Friendly): Buses exist! Cheap as, well, cheap pho. Routes? A mystery to me. A true test of your adventurous spirit. Buy bus tickets in advance! It is super.

  • Walking Wonders: Your own two feet! Da Nang is surprisingly walkable, especially along the beach. Just pack sunscreen and a sense of direction. Getting lost is half the fun, right?

  • Renting a Car/ Private Car: This is where it gets interesting. Consider this if you plan to explore areas outside of Da Nang. Always compare the price of each type of car on rental24h.com.

Night… again. Thinking about Da Nang. Dust and sun. Riding that motorbike. Felt free. So free. Hot wind. Remember the smell of exhaust. Not all good memories. Scratched my knee pretty bad, near Marble Mountain. Still have the scar.

Crazy traffic. Taxi drivers yelling. Horns. Constant horns. Took a Grab bike once. Weaving through everything. Terrifying. But fast. So fast.

Walked a lot too. Along the beach. Sand in my sandals. Hot sand. Remember that little cafe. Strong coffee. Sweetened condensed milk.

  • Motorbike: Best way to see things. Control. Freedom. Dangerous, though. Be careful. Lots of rental places.
  • Taxi/Grab: Easy. Air-conditioned. Can be pricey. Grab bikes are cheaper, wilder.
  • Walking: Good for short distances. Beachfront. Hot during the day. Better at night.
  • Bus: Cheap. Crowded. Confusing routes. Didn’t use it much.
  • Cyclo: Touristy. Slow. Good for a short ride. Novelty. A few pictures.
  • Private car: If you have money. Comfortable. Not really necessary.

My trip… August 2024. Wish I could go back. Just… be there. On that beach again. The waves… The sound… Maybe someday.
