Best vacation spot? Top travel destinations & places to visit?

Okay, best vacation spot, huh? That's a toughie! So many incredible places... Where do I want to go next?

I gotta say, the Dolomites have been calling my name ever since I saw a pic. Majestic, y'know?

TIME magazine says they're amazing in 2024, so that's got me thinkin'. And Australia? Always a classic.

TIME's Greatest Places 2024:

  • Dolomites, Italy
  • Australia

I mean, I once went camping near the Blue Mountains (Australia) back in, like, '08, and the stars? Unreal. And yeah it cost me around 50$ just for gas lol.

Maybe I'm biased cause that trip was awesome. Hmm, now I want to plan something!

What is the best place in the world to visit?

Okay, so best place? Hands down, the Swiss Alps in 2024. I went last summer, July to be exact. The air, so crisp! Seriously, I felt reborn. Hiking near Zermatt, breathtaking. Matterhorn, a majestic beast looming over you.

It was magical. I remember this one tiny village, Grindelwald, nestled in a valley. Absolutely stunning. You know those postcard views? That. Pure that. Felt completely disconnected from everything. So peaceful. No cell service half the time, which was actually a relief.

Food was amazing. Raclette every night, I don't even care. I gained five pounds, easily. Totally worth it. The cheese, oh my god.

But the hikes. Incredible views. Challenging, some of them, but so rewarding. I almost died climbing one, but it was awesome. Not kidding. My legs burned for days. Totally worth it.

Some things I liked:

  • The fresh air, seriously the cleanest I've ever breathed.
  • The cheese, the cheese, the cheese. Raclette, fondue, all of it.
  • Hiking trails for all levels, even if some nearly killed me.
  • Amazing views! The mountains were epic.

Things I didn't like so much:

  • My bank account is now crying. Switzerland is pricey.
  • Tourist crowds in some spots, especially Zermatt. But overall, it wasn't unbearable. It was still amazing.
  • My aching muscles. Worth it though.

Forget Bora Bora or Rome. The Swiss Alps are better than all of them. I'm going back. Next year, maybe I’ll try Interlaken. This year, the Alps absolutely blew me away. I need a vacation now just thinking about it.

Which country is the best place to go?

Japan is apparently the cat's pajamas, scoring 95.32. Who knew origami and robot toilets were a recipe for world domination?

Then comes Switzerland, a cool 94.62. I guess yodeling and chocolate really tickle people's fancies.

Thailand clocks in at 92.29. Pad Thai and beaches? I get it, I get it. It is like a permanent vacation.

France, with a score of 91.03. Baguettes and berets, oui oui. Its a fine romance, you won't get it.

Following up New Zealand (90.49). Sheep and hobbits, gotta love it. It's like stepping into a Tolkien novel, if Tolkien wrote about sheep.

Next Maldives (90.43) for crying out loud. Beaches, sun, you've heard it all before. I would do this any day.

Italy? 90.21. Pizza and ancient ruins, eh? Mama mia, it is good!

And Portugal (90.19). Pastel de natas and surfing? I'm SO in, I tell ya.

Which place is the most popular in the world?

France, huh? Still France.

I guess it makes sense.

  • France remains number one. France: the leader in tourism for so many years. I remember when my Aunt Carol went. Oh, man, the photos.

  • Spain's second. A huge jump. Spain. Always sunny. Spain: the rising star.

  • The US third. 130% change seems kinda high. United States: a strong comeback. So many destinations here, though. Still…

  • Italy is fourth. Not surprised, with all the pasta. Italy: a timeless favorite. Mom wanted to go to Italy. Never did.

What are the top 10 most visited?

Alright, lemme spill the tea. Top 10 most trampled countries, according to my calculations (give or take a tourist or three, eh?):

  1. France: 100 million folks? Sacre bleu! They must be there for the pastries, and, uh, maybe the art. Receipts: $68.6 billion (enough for a lifetime supply of croissants, I reckon).

  2. Spain: 85.17 million, huh? That's a lotta tapas eaten! They pocketed $92 billion. Ole!

  3. United States of America: Only 66.48 million? Seems low. Must be all those folks scared of flying. But $175.9 billion? Ka-ching!

  4. Italy: Pizza, pasta, and Vespas! Need I say more? (Probably).

  5. Turkey: Kebabs, carpets, and a whole lotta history! A delicious combo.

  6. Mexico: Tacos, tequila, and timeshare presentations galore! Watch out for those.

  7. United Kingdom: Rain, royalty, and really bad teeth. Just kidding! (Mostly).

  8. Germany: Beer, brats, and surprisingly punctual trains! Achtung!

Now, some extra nuggets.

  • Did you know: I, myself, visited France in June and saw a mime? True story.
  • Spain's secret: It's the siestas. Everyone's too chill to go home.
  • USA! USA!: Disneyland is prolly a major draw. Mickey's got serious pull.
  • Italy's got history: Like, a whole lotta history. Way more than your high school textbook.
  • Turkey's got the spice: And some excellent tea!
  • Mexico's got beaches: And maybe a little too much sun. Slather on that SPF.
  • The UK's got accents: Some I cannot even begin to understand.
  • Germany and cars: Don’t forget about those cars! Fast!

What is most beautiful place in the world?

The Great Barrier Reef's vibrant chaos. Machu Picchu: Incan ruins, breathtaking. Pamukkale's white terraces? Stunning. Madagascar's baobabs—a stark beauty. Milford Sound's raw power. Bagan's temples: ancient, haunting. California redwoods—monuments. Botswana's Okavango: untamed.

Top contenders:

  • Great Barrier Reef: Coral's breathtaking spectacle, but threatened.
  • Machu Picchu: Ancient ingenuity, but crowded.
  • Pamukkale: Geological marvel, but touristy.
  • Redwood National Park: Gigantic trees. My favorite.

My 2024 trip? Definitely exploring the Amazon. Less crowded than Machu Picchu, probably. More intense. Wild.

Which is the most visited place on Earth?

Wait, most visited place? Is it Bangkok?

  • Bangkok? Is that right? Euromonitor International says so, right?

It's number one. Funny, never been there.

  • Places I've been: London, Paris, New York. None of those are even close, I bet.

Then Istanbul... I've always wanted to go to Istanbul. All those crazy cats, ugh.

  • And London! It’s also in the top three. Gotta visit it again with Amy, she would love it.

Hong Kong... Then Mecca. Wow, Mecca.

  • Mecca – that has to be strictly pilgrimage. Can't imagine going there for fun, can you?

Antalya and Dubai are on the list. What year is this for? For 2024.

  • And then Macau. Casinos everywhere!

Paris...of course it’s Paris, always Paris.

  • Paris, I've been. So overrated.

Kuala Lumpur is last on the list, according to Euromonitor.

  • Kuala Lumpur, hmmm. Never even thought about it.

So it’s Bangkok, I guess.

Okay, additional places visited:

  • Tokyo is a great city; it's hard to travel around because of the language, though.
  • And Rome, how could I forget Rome? All that pasta and those ruins... just amazing.
  • Barcelona is also cool. The architecture and the food are amazing.
