What makes a bad app?

Bad apps suffer from poor UI/UX. Cluttered layouts, clashing colors, and hard-to-read fonts make navigation frustrating. Unintuitive controls, complicated user flows, and inconsistent design further hinder usability.

Ugh, what makes a bad app? It’s like, a gut feeling, you know? But I can tell you, from years of downloading and deleting (so many deletions!), that it’s more than just a pretty face.

I mean, sure, a cluttered layout – like that one weather app I tried, icons everywhere, colors that screamed at my eyes – is a major turn-off. It’s like walking into a room where someone’s exploded a rainbow and a glitter bomb. You just want to run. And don’t even get me started on fonts that look like they were designed by a toddler! Seriously, some of them are practically illegible.

But it’s deeper than just the aesthetics, you know? It’s the flow, the whole experience. Remember that banking app I used briefly? It took, like, seven steps just to check my balance! Seven! I nearly pulled my hair out. Why do they make things so complicated? It’s almost like they want you to fail.

And the inconsistency! Oh man, the inconsistency! One button does one thing on one screen, but a completely different thing on another. It’s like they built the thing in pieces and just kind of, glued it all together. I swear, some apps are designed to frustrate you, to make you want to give up and go back to using pen and paper. Which, honestly, sometimes feels more efficient.

I’m convinced that some developers just don’t think about the user. They’re so busy making things look fancy, they forget that it’s actually supposed to be useful. It’s a sad state of affairs, really. But hopefully we’ll eventually reach the golden age of user-friendly apps! One can dream, right?
