What not to do during Songkran?

So, Songkran! It's amazing, right? But, like, there are a few things you REALLY don't wanna do. Otherwise, you might end up making a serious faux pas. I mean, who wants to be that tourist?

First off, respect is key. Think about it – you're basically crashing their massive water fight party, right? So, dress respectfully. No tiny bikinis or super short shorts. I remember seeing this guy last year, practically shirtless, and honestly? It just felt a little… off. It's their culture, after all. We gotta show some respect, you know?

And the water thing... Okay, so everyone's soaking wet, it's part of the fun. But there are lines. Ice water? No, no, no. That's just mean. I saw some kids get absolutely blasted with it one year, they were crying! It's supposed to be fun, not painful. Plus, don't even THINK about throwing water on motorbike drivers. Seriously, that's just dangerous. They're trying to navigate chaos already! It's just common sense, really.

Oh, and this is a big one – don't touch anyone's head. I almost did it to a little girl once, my hand was just about there before a friend grabbed my arm. Apparently, it's like, super rude, because the head is considered sacred in Thai culture. Who knew? I certainly didn't until I almost committed a major social blunder. So, yeah, keep your hands to yourself unless invited for a hug.
