What position do ADHD sleep in?
Honestly, Ive heard that T-Rex arm sleeping (arms tucked close to the body) is a thing for some of us neurodivergent folks, but I havent seen any real science on it. It feels plausible though! Casanovas idea about relaxed forearm muscles makes sense to me – I know I often get tense, so maybe thats why I sometimes end up like a little dinosaur. More research is desperately needed though!
What position do people with ADHD sleep in? Gosh, it’s a mystery, isn’t it? I’ve heard this whole “T-Rex arms” thing – you know, sleeping with your arms tucked tight to your sides like a little… well, a T-Rex. And I swear, I think it’s true for some of us. I mean, I’ve totally done it. Many times, actually. It feels so comfy sometimes, and then other times, I’m sprawled out like a starfish, which makes no sense because it’s less comfortable. Go figure.
I read something somewhere – I can’t even remember where now – about relaxed forearm muscles and how that might play a role. Makes sense, right? I get so tense, especially at night. Like, my shoulders and neck are often knots by bedtime. Maybe that’s why I sometimes end up looking like I’m trying to impersonate a fossilized lizard.
But honestly? There’s barely any research on this. Someone needs to get on that! I’d volunteer, except, you know…sleep research requires sleep. And consistent sleep is something I’ve actively been trying to conquer for, like, my entire adult life. It’s a work in progress, let’s just say. Maybe if I actually slept better, I could provide some actual, meaningful data. Hah. Probably not. But wouldn’t it be amazing if we could find some pattern or something? A connection between sleep position and neurodivergence? A whole new research field! (Okay, I’m getting a bit carried away now.) But seriously, more research is desperately needed!
