Which ATM to use in Vietnam for no fee?

For fee-free ATM withdrawals in Vietnam, use TPBank or VPBank. Both offer withdrawals up to 5,000,000 VND without charge. Other banks like MBbank and VIB charge fees (49,000 VND and 50,000 VND respectively) for the same withdrawal limit.

Free ATMs in Vietnam?

Okay, lemme tell ya about ATMs in Vietnam, from my messed-up memory.

Free ATMs in Vietnam exist! But it’s kinda… complicated.

So, like, I think TPBank and VPBank offer free withdrawals, or at least did when I was last there. I swear, somewhere in HCMC… maybe D1, I hit up a VPBank ATM and didn’t get charged a fee. I pulled out the max, which I think was 5,000,000 VND. That’s like, 200 USD, right?

MB Bank? Yeah, I remember them charging. Something around 49,000 VND. Annoying. Same 5,000,000 VND limit, I beleive.

Then there’s VIB Bank. I think it was about 50,000 VND when I used a VIB ATM near my hostel in Hanoi (August, 2022). Felt like robbery, man.

Basically, you gotta hunt around for the freebies! Good luck, haha.

  • TPBank: Free of charge, 5,000,000 VND limit
  • VP Bank: Free of charge, 5,000,000 VND limit
  • MBBank: 49,000 VND fee, 5,000,000 VND limit
  • VIB Bank: 50,000 VND fee, 5,000,000 VND limit

What ATM machine does not charge a fee?

Zero-fee ATMs are rare. Finding them requires research.

Wise card. Useful.

Vietnam: ACB, TPBank, HSBC. 2024 data.

Croatia (Split): Information outdated. Check local sources.

Japan: Reddit suggests difficulty. Expect fees.

Copenhagen: No readily available fee-free ATM data.

Reimbursement options exist. Check your bank’s policies. Fees a pervasive problem.

  • Consider international debit cards designed for low fees.
  • Plan ahead. ATM location crucial.
  • Fees vary wildly. Expect the unexpected. This is life.

My experience: Fee avoidance requires effort, always. Sucks. But such is life.

What bank offers no ATM fees?

Man, ATM fees suck. Seriously. I was in Hanoi, Vietnam, last July. Needed cash, desperately. My stupid bank, back in the States, hit me with a $5 fee – FIVE DOLLARS! For what? Pulling out MY money?

So, I switched. Now I use a Wise card. It’s been a lifesaver. No fees, ever, almost anywhere. Almost. There were a few instances with smaller local banks but overall, pretty good.

In Vietnam, though, I found ACB, TPBank, and HSBC didn’t charge at their ATMs. Those were the only ones I actually tried that worked perfectly.

In Japan, though, different story. Finding fee-free ATMs was a total pain.

Debit card recommendations? Seriously, Wise card. Hands down. I avoid all those other confusing banks now. Too much hassle. My friend uses Revolut, but I haven’t tested it myself. I think it’s similar, though.

ATM fees are highway robbery, plain and simple. I hated those five dollars. Hated it. That’s why I changed everything. Never again.

What is the best way to withdraw cash in Vietnam?

ATM. US cards often waive fees. Safer. Less hassle.

  • VPBank: Good ATM network. Accepts most cards. My go-to in District 1, HCMC.
  • Techcombank: Reliable. Seen them everywhere, even smaller towns.
  • Gold: Avoid. Fees unpredictable. Stuck with a $10 charge once.

Limit withdrawals. Daily limits exist. Check your bank. My limit: $500. Sketchy ATMs? Skip them. Stick to reputable banks. Inside is better.

What bank has no international ATM fees?

Three AM. Another sleepless night. Thinking about money… again. Chase Sapphire Checking, that’s the one, right? No foreign ATM fees. At least, that’s what I read. I swear I saw it. Annoying, really. This whole banking thing… a constant headache.

My Bank of America account, ugh. Five bucks every time. Five dollars. That adds up. Fast. Seriously, fast. It’s highway robbery, small little amounts chipping away at my savings. I need a better system. A simpler system.

It’s all so complicated. These fees…these hidden charges…It feels predatory. They should be more transparent. My own fault for not checking the details more closely I guess. Should have known better. Always looking for the best deals. That’s my problem. Always looking. Always searching. Never satisfied. Never enough.

  • Chase Sapphire Checking: Zero international ATM fees. Confirmed.
  • Bank of America: $5 per transaction. Rips me off every time.
  • Need to switch. Seriously. This year. I’m making that a priority.

Can you open a bank account in Vietnam as a foreigner?

Passport… Need that. Visa too. Any visa works. Vietcombank… good. Used them in District 1, HCMC. 2023, so easy. ATM card… got it same day. Remember needing my address. Landing visa… yep, worked for me. Tourist visa… definitely. So many banks. Which one? Went with… what was it… oh yeah, Vietcombank. Lines can be long. Bring a fan. Hot. USD, VND… can use both. Online banking… set that up. Convenient. Multiple accounts… possible. Checking… savings. Debit card… yes. Used it everywhere. Fee… small monthly fee. Worth it. Should double-check current fees. Rules change. Bring passport… always. Copies too. Hotel address… worked for me. Residence permit… don’t need one. Just visa. Any visa. So simple now. PassportVisaAddress Done.
