Yeah, I’d def hit the north first. I haven’t personally done the Laos crossing, but, that’s the vibe I got online. The Redditors seemed pretty sure.
Personally, I started in Hanoi. Total chaos, amazing food! Like 20 USD per night, then travelled south.
I am still debating, so I haven’t done south to north yet.
So based on my experience so far, north to south looks more logical to me. Easier crossing to Laos to explore later.
