Which is the best website to book train tickets?

Ugh, booking train tickets, right? It’s always such a headache! Which site is best? That’s the million-dollar question, isn’t it?

Okay, so the official Indian Railways site, IRCTC (irctc.co.in), is, well, the official one. It’s what everyone uses, so it’s gotta be reliable, you know? I mean, it should be. I’ve used it a few times, and it was…okay. Sometimes a bit clunky, if I’m honest. Remember that time I tried to book tickets for my sister’s wedding back in 2020? The site crashed like, five times. Five! Seriously stressful. But hey, at least I got the tickets eventually, and everyone made it to the wedding. Phew!

Then there’s MakeMyTrip (makemytrip.com). It’s like, a much fancier version, with all the bells and whistles. You can check schedules easier, see if there are seats available, even track your train in real-time – that’s pretty neat! I used it once for a quick trip to Goa – much smoother experience than IRCTC, to be honest. Although, I did pay a slightly higher booking fee, which always stings a little, you know? Is it worth it for the convenience? Depends, really. I’d say so, if your time is precious, or if you’re not the most tech-savvy person.
