Why is my internet not working today?

Ugh, my internet’s down AGAIN! Why today?! Seriously, is there anything more frustrating? I swear, it always happens at the worst possible time.

Wondering if it’s an outage? Maybe. Or maybe it’s something else. Here’s what I usually try when my internet decides to take a vacation:

• Equipment: First things first, right? Restart that modem and router. I know, it sounds so basic, but honestly, it works more often than you’d think. Like that time I swore my internet was totally dead, spent ages on the phone with tech support, and it turned out I just needed to unplug the stupid router for 30 seconds. Seriously.
• Speed: Okay, so maybe everything’s *technically* working, but it’s slower than molasses in January. Are you trying to stream, game, and video conference all at once? Yeah, I’ve been there. Might be time to upgrade your plan. I remember when I was sharing a connection with like five roommates… nightmare.
• Network: Sometimes, it’s not you, it’s them! Network congestion, especially during peak hours, can totally slow things down. Think of it like rush hour traffic, but for the internet. What can you do? Not much, unfortunately, besides maybe try again later. *Sigh*.
• Weather: Oh, and don’t forget Mother Nature! If there’s a crazy storm raging outside, chances are that might be messing with your connection. I remember that huge blizzard a few years back – internet was down for days! Fingers crossed it’s not that.
