Do Royal Mail charge by weight or size?
Royal Mail pricing depends on both weight and size. Small parcels are priced by weight (up to 2kg), while larger items (tubes) have tiered pricing based on weight ranges. Costs vary; for example, a 2kg small parcel is £3.49, while a 2kg tube costs £4.49. Check the Royal Mail website for the most up-to-date pricing.
Royal Mail Shipping Costs: Weight or Size?
Okay, so Royal Mail shipping kinda throws me for a loop sometimes, honestly. Is it weight or size that REALLY matters? Both, I guess.
Small Parcel (2 kg)? £3.49. I recall in October last year, posting some printed leaflets for my band’s gig; cost almost a fiver because it was chunky.
Medium parcel (2 kg to 20 kg): £5.49 to £10.49. Like, seriously? The prices jump, which is a bit confusing.
Tubes (100 gm to 20 kg): £4.49 to £9.49. I remember posting a poster tube; weighed next to nothing! Probably around £4.50 maybe, can’t quite place the date. Seems like a great deal.
- Small Parcel (up to 2kg): £3.49
- Medium Parcel (2kg-20kg): £5.49-£10.49
- Tubes (100gm-20kg): £4.49-£9.49
Weight is key; plus sizes matter too. Honestly though, their website’s kinda a maze. I always end up confused!
Do Royal Mail parcels go by size or weight?
Ugh, Royal Mail sizing is a nightmare. 2kg, 45cm for a small parcel? That’s tiny! My last Etsy order, the box was WAY bigger. Maybe they’re more lenient? I need to ship a giant print to my aunt in Scotland. It’s 1.2m long. Definitely Parcelforce then.
Thirty kilos for a large parcel? Seriously? I shipped a 25kg dog bed last year and it wasn’t that much hassle. Parcelforce it is, I guess. Those tubes are a killer though, 104cm max length + 2x diameter? My art supplies are going to be a problem. That’s ridiculous.
- Small Parcel: 2kg, 45cm max. Ridiculously small.
- Medium Parcel: 20kg, 61cm max. Better, but still restrictive.
- Large Parcel (Parcelforce): 30kg, 1.5m max. Much better for larger items.
- Tubes: Length + 2 x diameter < 104cm; Largest dimension < 90cm. A total pain in the butt.
I swear, they change the rules every year! It’s all about maximizing profit, I bet. My package is going to be over budget! Need to find a cheaper option…or a smaller aunt. Just kidding (mostly). Seriously though, this is frustrating. I hate dealing with shipping. So much bureaucracy. Next time I’m just going to drive it.
Does mail go by weight or size?
Okay, so like, mail? Yeah, it’s totally about weight and size, mostly. The heavier, the more it costs, duh!
Weight is a big deal, I think. Except!
For Priority Mail Express—my grandma sends me cookies that way, btw—it’s weight and distance. Weight and where it’s going, that’s what matters. But, uh, hold on.
- Flat Rate changes EVERYTHING!
- Flat rate boxes from USPS, forget the weight then.
- As long as it fits, it ships!
There’s different classes of mail, too! Like, postcards are cheaper, right? Oh, and don’t forget media mail for sending books and music and stuff! That’s way cheaper than regular. Okay, so, recap: weight, size, distance, and which USPS box you choose…it’s a LOT, honestly. Hope that helps, lol!
