How does seat assignment work?
Okay, so, seat assignments. It's a bit of a lottery, isn't it? I mean, you book your flight, all excited, and then… the dreaded seat assignment. Usually, it happens after you check in online. You know, you get that little boarding pass thing, and hopefully it has a seat number on it. But sometimes…sometimes it doesn't. And that's when the nail-biting begins. You're left wondering, "Where am I going to end up? Middle seat, squished between two strangers? Next to the bathroom? Shudder." I had this happen once flying from Chicago to LA – no seat assigned at check-in. I was totally stressing! I pictured myself stuck in some awful spot for six hours. Turned out, I got an aisle seat near the front! Total win! So yeah, if your boarding pass is missing a seat number, don't panic (easier said than done, I know). They'll assign you one at the gate, just before boarding. Which means, yeah, you might not know exactly where you're sitting until, like, right before you get on the plane. It's a little annoying, right? Like, you want to plan, you want to know... but you just gotta wait. It's the way it goes!
