Is Roma Street Station the Same as Central Station?
Yes, Roma Street Station and Central Station in Brisbane are the same.
Originally known as Central Station, it was renamed Roma Street in 1889 after the opening of the new Central Station at Ann Street. The Roma Street area was expanded to accommodate the increasing rail traffic, and eventually incorporated a dedicated locomotive shed to service the growing needs of the railway network.
Today, Roma Street Station is the main railway station in Brisbane and is a major transport hub for the city. It is served by Queensland Rail Citytrain services, as well as long-distance and interstate services operated by Queensland Rail Travel, NSW TrainLink, and Great Southern Rail.
