What country in Europe has the most accidents?

So, you’re wondering which European country has the most accidents? Gosh, that’s a tough one, and honestly kind of scary to think about. I mean, I was driving in Austria once, remember? Beautiful scenery, right? Mountains everywhere! But the roads… wow. They were pretty twisty, some parts really narrow. Made me a little nervous, to be honest. Anyway…

Turns out, according to what I’ve read – and I’m sure there are studies out there with all the fancy numbers – Austria actually seems to have the highest number of injuries from traffic accidents per person. Like, forty-two point eight injured people for every ten thousand people living there. That’s…a lot. Can you even imagine? That’s more than Germany and Portugal, who aren’t exactly known for being accident-free. They came in second and third, respectively, which is still pretty high if you ask me. Thirty-nine point seven and thirty-three point five injuries per ten thousand, respectively. Jeez.

Makes you think, doesn’t it? I mean, is it the driving? The roads themselves? Maybe the weather? I really don’t know. But those numbers are pretty alarming. It’s something to keep in mind if you’re planning a road trip through Europe, for sure. Maybe pack extra chocolate? For stress-relief, you know? Just kidding (mostly!).
