Can a disabled person sit in an exit row?
I find it reassuring that airlines cant just bar someone from an exit row because of a disability. Its about capability, not assumptions. If someone can handle the responsibilities, whats the problem? Its a small victory against prejudice, but it makes me feel a little better about how we treat people with disabilities. Its about darn time!
Is it even legal to tell someone with a disability they can’t sit in the exit row? You know, it’s such a relief that airlines can’t just assume someone can’t handle it just because they have a disability. I mean, seriously, if they can open the door and help others, what’s the big deal? Right? It’s really about whether they’re capable, isn’t it? I remember this one time, I was flying, and this guy in a wheelchair was seated in the exit row. He was totally prepared, knew exactly what to do. It just… it shouldn’t even be a question! It’s a small thing, this whole exit row thing, but it feels like a tiny step towards treating people with disabilities like, you know, people. It’s like, finally! It’s about time, don’t you think? I mean, how long have we been making these kinds of ridiculous assumptions? It really makes you think.
