Can a foreigner become a train driver in Australia?
Can a foreigner become a train driver in Australia? Gosh, that's a fantastic question! I've always wondered that myself, actually. Imagine, you know? Trading in, say, my mildly stressful office job for the rumble of a train beneath me, the wide open Aussie landscape flashing by... it's almost dreamy. Australia is pretty big on opportunity, isn't it? My cousin, he moved here from Ireland, became a plumber – found his niche completely. So why not a train driver?
It sounds amazing, the whole thing! Getting paid to learn how to drive a massive train? That's practically a dream come true. Seriously, I’d love to know what the training's like. I bet it's intense, you know, loads of safety stuff and probably some seriously complicated tech – maybe even simulators? My friend's brother is a pilot, and he talks about hours in flight simulators before his first solo flight; I'd guess it would be similar. Maybe even more so, given the sheer size of a train and all the responsibility involved. The sheer weight of it all, quite literally! Plus, think of the views! I bet you'd see some incredible sunrises, especially out west. It really would be a great way to see the country, way better than any holiday, right? Definitely a career change I’ve daydreamed about... maybe one day!
